Flyball Fanatics

Last weekend we travelled to Alstonville to compete at Awesome Pawsome Flyball Club’s inaugural Alstonville Flyball Classic. Fanatics love a road trip and this one was only 2.5hrs down the road! 🚗

We started with our baby dogs on Friday who got some valuable experience in a competition ring set up. They all did us proud and are progressing along well! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Across the weekend we had three teams entered and a couple of dogs in open teams with other clubs. Our racing started off incredibly with Nellie and Moose achieving their FIRST 0.000 start ever in one of our first races! 💪🏼💚 (Peep the screenshot of Nellie’s celebration below 👀😂) Moose also scored herself a new individual dog PB and so did Olive, who crushed it all weekend ripping up and down the lane like a rocket. It’s so fun when the pieces start to fall into place for a green dog. 😊 Another special shout out to our newest junior handlers, Zoe and Zara. We gave them a job ball sh****ng each and they did amazing for their first time in the ring! 🤩

A few little brain farts for some of our dogs but overall our dogs did amazing. The rain threatened all weekend but it held off enough for us to complete the racing on Sunday. ⛅️

ROAD TRIP! 🚙🚗
Fanatics are heading down to Alstonville NSW this weekend for the Alstonville Flyball Classic hosted by Awesome Pawsome Flyball Racing. This is the first time Flyball has been held in the Northern Rivers so come along to watch the action at the Alstonville Showgrounds.

The weekend starts on Friday with the Northern Rivers Flyball Rookies day! Our baby dogs will represent (look at them all! 😎) and get some valuable practice in the ring.

Stay tuned for the teams for Saturday and Sunday, all the dogs are itching for some great racing 🤩

Last weekend belonged to the girls! 💁‍♀️ We hosted our first two day race meet and bid a happy retirement to not one, but two of our racing dogs! 🐶🐶

Icon and Leala ran their last races in the competition lanes. A big congratulations to both Jane and Anne, their respective handlers on a stellar flyball career for each of them. 👏🏼👏🏼

They both enjoyed the day with TWO dogs cakes, although Icon was a little more suspicious of them than Leala was. 😂 A big thanks to Clare May Real Estate and RSPCA QLD for helping us celebrate, by hosting a Family Fun Day on the Sunday of our comp, letting us show off our great sport to the public.

We are getting ready for our own comp - Stat for Nats being held this weekend at RSPCA Wacol. If you are looking for something to do come on down, we will be competing both days.

Our pups are definitely ready. Go Fanatics run fast clean and most of all have fun..

We’ve been bursting to share some super exciting news with you, and we can wait no longer! Two weeks ago we competed at All Paws Airborne Flyball Club’s Runway Rush comp and something pretty special happened. 🤩

Icon reached her final title - Flyball Dog Grand Champion 2000 points! 🏆 Everyone knows Jane, she’s been playing flyball forever and if we ever can’t find her at a comp, we just know that she’s found another friend to chat to. 🙄😂 Such a milestone achievement and a big congratulations from us Jane! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Big thanks to all the officials and comp organisers, we know how much goes in and we appreciate your efforts. 🫶🏼

We also celebrated new titles for both Pepper and Montana. 🏆🏆

We’ve got a weekend jammed packed with flyball again this weekend, and we haven’t even celebrated our last comp yet! 🫣 A fortnight ago we trained and raced at the Bayside Flyball Racing Inc. training day and comp. A big thank you to all of the organisers and officials!

Our baby dogs trained on Saturday at the training day and all did amazing. You might see a couple of them in the lanes towards the end of the year. 👀

At the comp on Sunday we switched up our teams a little. We’re a reasonable sized club but actually we have fewer humans and just lots of dogs each! 🤪 Our new combos worked well and will keep building in the next few comps. 😎 Our open team ripped it a little too hard down the lanes and had a major break out! We were in good company though with many other teams breaking out too. The dogs still have fun regardless of where we place in the div. 🫶🏼
