Message from the coach

Howdy Sharkies

We will be starting cricket training Thursday arvo.

I will set some fielding drills up around 4:30 and the nets are ready to go.

If you are free we would love to see you there.

👏Congratulations to the following players on being recognised for the cricket over recent years, by being named in the CQ Open Men's Squad for 2026/27.

🏏Selections in both the First and Second XI teams will not strictly come from this squad, as new players come to the region and/or existing players push for selection through performances on the field.

🏏In addition, the Rockhampton Premier League starting on the 11th September is a great way for players to push for selection through game play, as are all senior matches throughout the representative season.

🏏The CQ Seamers side for the Bulls Masters T20 competition (October 2-5 in Cairns) will be named early in the week following the RPL matches on Sunday 13th September.

Junior Registrations for the 2026/27 cricket season for the Capricorn Coast Cricket Club are now open. The Cost will be $200 with a $25 Rockhampton Cricket fee, $17.45Cricket Australia fee and $3.61 Playhq fee making a total cost of 246.06

The Queensland Government ‘Play On’ Sports Voucher are now open. The vouchers are for $200. All children are eligible. Below is the link to the ‘Play on’ voucher.

Season 2026-2027
The Capricorn Coast Cricket Club intend to have 8 to 10 Junior Teams ranging from Division 4 to Division 1. Games will start 10th October 2026. Training will start before then, a training start date will be provided when teams are formed.

Junior teams will be across 4 Divisions
Division 1 – 15-16yrs – Play Saturday Afternoon
Division 2 – 14-16yrs – Play Saturday Morning
Division 3 – 12-14yrs – Play Saturday Morning
Division 4 – 8-12yrs – Play Saturday Afternoon

Which division a player will be in, will take into account their age, skill level and experience to ensure they get the most cricket and enjoyment during the season.

Junior Cricket needs the assistance of parent, guardians and friends on game day. The Cap Coast Cricket Club encourages people to get involved in your child’s cricket journey by volunteering to coach help score, umpire, or simply help supervise the kids.

Training for scoring and umpiring will be available and someone will always be with the person when starting. Umpiring is the best seat in the house. Please get involved.

More information about the upcoming season will be provided as we get close to 10th October.

If you’ve ever wondered why Lewis looks at the center wicket with the intense, tender devotion of a new father... it’s because that pitch is another child. While the rest of us treat the square as a place to drop catches and complain about uneven bounce, Lewis treats every blade of grass like a cherished family heir.

In all seriousness, the sheer volume of time, sweat, and late-night rolling required to keep all our teams playing at home week after week is immense. Without a dedicated wizard like Lewis running the show, our lush, beautiful pitches would quickly turn into a grazed sheep paddock, and we'd be playing home games in someone’s back garden.

So next time you see Lewis dragging the covers or obsessively measuring grass height, buy him a drink, give him a pat on the back, and for the love of cricket

You only have to mark a line, not dig a trench! 🏏✨
