It was a sensational performance by our 60 club athletes competing in Mackay at the Capricornia Trials earlier this week. 🥰

Our para athletes Maia and Heidi were amazing. 🤩🤩 Our athletes having their first experience at this level were also amazing, achieving personal bests and so many top eight placings.

So many highlights over the two days of competition! So many medals, so many new records set, and most importantly, such incredible sportsmanship on display from all our athletes and their respect for those officiating. 🙌👏👏

It was so good to see not only teachers, but highly qualified volunteers from Athletics North Queensland giving up their time to ensure that trials were run to such a high standard. 🙌👏👏

One of our Senior Athletes having his final experience at this level is to be commended for personally thanking the ANQ starter for her expertise and patience in managing so many athletes (many unaware of the rules and procedures).

Our club medal tally was, 54 Gold🥇
35 Silver🥈and 14 Bronze🥉
This is our best club performance ever at this level, combined with the astronomical numbers who made finals and to be in the top eight of their events.

Particular credit must go initially to our Junior Coaches who, every Friday over the last few years have been introducing our 5 to 8 year olds to the joy of Track and Field. Some of their proteges, now 10 year olds, have qualified for the State Championships.
