Hands up if you’ve got shoulder issues? 🙋‍♀️(Jokes 😆)
But in all seriousness those shoulder joints can be problematic.
Today Peter shows a couple of ways to improve shoulder flexion.

Asanas:
• Pincha Mayurasana (Feathered Peacock Pose) prep, elbows to chair, hand together then with block
• Full inversion with chair support (keep feet on the floor with shoulder injury)
• Ardho Mukha Svanasana with rope and belt support to stabilise the shoulders. This pose gives wonderful support to injured shoulders.

Props used:
• Kurma Core Yoga Mat
• iYoga chair
• 2 x cotton Snap buckle belts
• Doutta Galla Belt
• Wall ropes
• Yoga block

Three ways into Viparita Karani.

“Viparita Karani is a restorative and relaxing asana, but the final pose is quite difficult for beginners and those with stiff backs. The use of props makes the pose easier and more restful. Viparita means ‘upside down’ and Karani means ‘doing’ in Sanskrit, and the blood and hormones circulate better through the body when it is inverted.” ~ BKS Iyengar ref Path to Holistic Health

Method 1: Forward roll
Method 2: Side roll
Method 3: Using wall ropes.

Props used:
• Sadhaka Deluxe Studio Mat
• Eco PET Yoga Bolster
• iYoga Blanket
• Snap buckle belt
• Wall ropes

Today’s sequence features our Benger.

In 2001 Peter (in video) designed the Benger to clip onto a yoga chair so it could be used for supported Viparita Dandasana. However unlike a traditional backbend bench, the Benger is portable and versatile. You see a few knock offs on Amazon here and there, so don’t be fooled. These are the original and the best!

Peter begins with Sirasana, then moves on to Viparita Dandasana and Eka Pada Viparita Dandasana. This is followed by Supta Virasana and Matsyasana.

We will bring you more videos on the Benger in the coming weeks.

Props used:
• iYoga Chair
• Benger attachment
• Yoga Cushion
• Yoga Block
• Studio Yoga Mat

Salamba Sarvangasana (shoulder stand) and Viparita Karani (inverted lake pose)).
Today Peter is demonstrating using props to support these common asanas. Firstly Sarvangasana an active asana that uses the whole body. He is using cushions, blankets and a wall for Halasana (Plough pose) followed by using a yoga chair, which makes it a more restful pose.
The second asana Viparita Karani is often used as a quieter alternative to Sarvangasana. Peter demonstrates using a yoga bolster and then with a Viparita Karani Box. A wooden yoga prop pioneered by BKS Iyengar.

When practicing inversions we recommend instruction from your qualified yoga teacher.
We also recommend using a yoga chair designed for the purpose that will not tip over.

Props Used:
• Sadhaka Deluxe Studio Mat 2m long
• iYoga cushion
• Sarvangasana band
• iYoga chair
• iYoga blanket
• Yoga bolster
• Viparita Karani Box
