Happy Birthday Hip Hop!!

Hip hop culture emerged in the Bronx in the 1970s, from a powerful movement of music, dance and self expression, although its cultural influences have much deeper roots. Today’s date marks DJ Kool Herc’s back-to-school party in 1973, often recognised as a key moment in the development of hip hop culture.

Hip hop dance encompasses a range of styles, constantly evolving alongside the culture and reflecting the individuality, creativity and energy of the people who make it their own!

We love hip hop for its energy, individuality, creativity and freedom to express yourself! ❤️

Heads up! The EKKA Holiday is next week on Wednesday 12 August. No regular classes will be held on this day - all other classes next week are on as normal. Enjoy the holiday!

Con-grad-ulations to Bayside Dance director Dr Kaitlin Hague, Dance Educator for officially receiving her doctorate at the QUT graduation ceremony over the weekend!
