Ladies’ Pink Day Raises $2,000 for Breast Cancer
Pink was certainly the colour of the day at MGGC on Wednesday,
as more than 70 ladies came together for a wonderful day of golf,
friendship, laughter and fundraising.
The annual Ladies’ Pink Day, held to raise much-needed funds for
breast cancer, was a huge success, with an incredible $2,000
raised on the day — an outstanding result that exceeded all
expectations.
A three-person Ambrose was the order of the day, with both golfers
and non-golfers taking to the course on a beautiful, warm day. And,
of course, there was one very important dress code — PINK! From
shirts and socks to hats and accessories, everyone managed to
find a splash of pink in their wardrobe, creating a colourful sight
across the course.
The generosity of local businesses and sponsors also played a
huge part in the success of the day. Redgum Country, Bunnings,
Sugar and Spice and Muffin Break, Forty Winks, Lakes Village
Butcher (Marketplace) South Eastern Hotel, Steve Walters car
detailing, Mount Gambier West post office, Bare Necessities, Jip
Jip Rocks Wines and Kent and Co Wines all provided wonderful
support, helping to make the event extra special.
After the golf, the ladies gathered to enjoy a delicious lunchbox
filled with tasty treats, followed by raffle prizes, plenty of laughs
and, most importantly, great company.
It was a day that showed just what can happen when a community
comes together for a cause close to so many hearts. While there
may have been a few competitive moments on the course, the real
winner was the breast cancer cause.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who played, donated,
sponsored, organised and supported the day. $2,000 raised, more
than 70 ladies in pink and plenty of smiles — now that’s a Pink Day
worth celebrating
Now for the results on this great day.
Taking out the first prize sponsored by Redgum Country were
Janina Morrison, Bev Pedlar and Jane Lamont with a score of 60.4.
They had 75 off the stick and a handicap of 14.6. It was a great
effort by this team and a well deserved win with two of the ladies
being the oldest in the club. It just goes to show that age has no
barriers wen it comes to golf. Taking out first prize, generously
sponsored by Redgum Country, were Janina Morrison, Bev Pedlar
and Jane Lamont, with an impressive score of 60.4.
The team finished with 75 off the stick and a handicap of 14.6, a
fantastic effort that earned them a well-deserved win.
Adding an extra special touch to their victory, two members of the
winning team are among the oldest ladies at the club — proving
once again that when it comes to golf, age is certainly no barrier!
Their result was a wonderful reminder that experience,
determination and a love of the game can go a very long way.
Congratulations Janina, Bev and Jane — a fabulous result and a
win worth celebrating!
The runner up team went to Prue Forster, Hope Bliss and Penne
Saffin. They had 77 off the stick, a handicap of 15.5 and a score of
