I ran The Art of Transformational Group Coaching workshop today and one thing came up again and again:

Leading a group well is not the same as coaching several people at once.

There is a different skill involved in reading the room, managing energy, creating psychological safety, drawing quieter voices in, handling dominant personalities and knowing when to stay with one person and when to bring the learning back to the whole group.

That is where group coaching gets really interesting.

A good group can create something that simply doesn’t happen in 1:1 work. One person’s insight sparks something for someone else. A shared experience creates connection. The room itself becomes part of the coaching.

But that doesn’t happen automatically.

It takes skill to move beyond delivering content and create a group experience that actually engages people and leads to change.
