🐎 MAKING MUSTANGS HISTORY 🏈
This weekend at the Asia Pacific Championships marked another milestone in Wollongong Mustangs history, with Courtney Scarth becoming the first female coach to take the sideline for the Mustangs, making her club coaching debut as Defensive Coordinator of our U16 Flag team. ❤️💛
While it may have been Courtney’s first time coaching in Mustangs colours, she is certainly no stranger to the sideline — or to growing the game.
Courtney brings years of experience within the gridiron community, having previously served as a Head Coach and Assistant Coach at other clubs, spent many years on the Gridiron NSW Board, and currently holds the role of Team Manager for the Australian Junior Teams.
Since joining the Mustangs, Courtney has continued to make her mark both on and off the field. She currently serves as our Club Secretary, is a player within our Women’s Flag program, and played an integral role in ensuring our women had a team and a competition to take the field in this season through the Mustangs x Gremlins SZN partnership.
This weekend, she added another chapter.
Courtney took charge of the defence for our U16s across seven games at Asia Pacific, helping the team battle their way to an impressive 3rd-place finish — while becoming the first woman in our club’s history to coach on the Mustangs sideline.
For a club celebrating 35 years, it’s pretty special to still be creating new firsts. ❤️💛
Congratulations, Courtney. We’re proud to have you wearing the Mustang — as a player, volunteer, committee member and now, coach. 🐎🏈
The first, but certainly not the last. ❤️💛

COLTS TO SENIORS 🐎
Continuing our C**ts to Seniors series, meet Zachary “Diesel” Kelly #91/97.
A Mustang for the past four years, Diesel has spent his C**ts career in the trenches at Defensive Tackle — and one memory stands above the rest: our first C**ts win against the Sydney Pirates in 2024, made even better by recording his first solo sack that same game. 💪
Ask Diesel what being a Mustang means to him?
“Everything.”
As he steps up into the Men’s program, Diesel is embracing a new challenge — making the move from Defensive Tackle to Offensive Line, while getting his first taste of the full 11-man game.
When it comes to the Mustangs he’s learnt from, he couldn’t single out just one. Instead, he credits the coaching staff as a whole and the opportunity they’ve given the group to learn from each other along the way.
He describes himself simply as:
Big. Effort. Teammate.
And his advice to the younger Mustangs coming through:
“Aim to get one percent better every snap. Take every piece of advice in like a sponge.”
From one side of the trenches to the other — Diesel is ready for the next challenge. ❤️🤍💛

THE ROAD TO 2026 STARTS HERE. 🐎🏈
The schedule is locked in. Now it’s time to get to work.
Our Men’s Tackle, C**ts Tackle, U16 Mixed Flag and Women’s Flag sides know exactly what lies ahead as the Wollongong Mustangs prepare to hit the field for our 35th Anniversary season.
Plenty of road trips. Plenty of battles. And a couple of chances to defend Vikings Rugby on home soil.
For our C**ts, there’s something extra on the line — the KB1 Shield clash against the Gators at Neptune Park on 28 November. ⭐️
Save the dates. Rally the herd. Bring the noise.
2026. ALL TEAMS. ONE CLUB.
BUCK ’EM. 🐎

🧡 4 YEARS WITHOUT KUAN | KUAN’S 4 YEAR ANGELVERSARY 🦏
Today marks four years since our Mustangs family lost one of our own, Kuan Brown.
Four years since our hearts were broken and our lives changed forever.
While time moves forward, we continue to miss Kuan deeply. But we also continue to honour him by living life the way he would have wanted us to — with passion, purpose, kindness and a determination to make a difference.
One cause that was incredibly close to Kuan’s heart was saving the rhinos. 🦏
Kuan began his campaign to help end the illegal and devastating poaching of rhinos when he was just 10 years old. His passion for these incredible animals never wavered, and his message was simple:
“THE BEST PLACE FOR A RHINO’S HORN IS ON ITS HEAD.”
Shortly after Kuan passed away, his family established a fundraising memorial page to continue the work he had started.
Today, on his 4 year angelversary, we’re asking our Mustangs community to help keep Kuan’s legacy alive.
🧡 Please consider donating $4 today in Kuan’s memory — or $44 if you can — to help save the rhinos.
Every donation, no matter how small, helps. We would love to see Kuan’s memorial fundraiser continue to grow towards its $20,000 goal, and what better way to honour him than with hundreds of people coming together to support something he cared so deeply about?
🦏 Donate here:
https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Kuan-Brown
Please donate, share the link, tag your friends and help us spread Kuan’s message far and wide.
Four years without you, Kuan.
Forever a Mustang. Forever remembered. Forever making a difference. 🧡🦏

COLTS TO SENIORS 🐎
Our C**ts to Seniors series continues as we celebrate the young Mustangs making the step into our Men’s program.
Meet Carter O’Connor #33.
Heading into his fourth year as a Mustang, Carter has made his mark at Strong Side Linebacker, describing himself as physical, developing and a leader.
One of his favourite memories in C**ts? Winning the Kuan Brown Memorial Shield. 🏆
For Carter, being a Mustang means operating as a unit, having the willingness to take on a challenge, and being part of a community.
As he steps into the Men’s program, he’s looking forward to further developing as a player and getting the opportunity to line up alongside some of our veteran Mustangs.
The Mustang he’s looked up to and learnt the most from? Jake Stevens.
And his advice for the younger Mustangs coming through: “Take every opportunity available and apply for everything.”
Another C**t stepping up. Another chapter beginning. ❤️🤍💛

COLTS TO SENIORS 🐎
Introducing our C**ts to Seniors series — celebrating the young Mustangs taking the next step in their football journey and graduating into our Men’s program.
First up, Grigoriy “G-Rigg” Pan #88.
A Mustang for the past three years, G-Rigg describes himself as disciplined, physical and versatile — having lined up across DB, WR and TE.
For G-Rigg, being a Mustang means family. ❤️🤍💛
He credits Vladimir Pan as the Mustang he’s looked up to most — “he is the one that got me to where I am.”
As he makes the move into the Men’s program, his focus is simple: keep growing, keep getting better and do the best he can for the program.
His advice to the younger Mustangs coming through:
“Listen to your coaches and peers — they are there to make you better.”
The next generation is stepping up.
Once a C**t, always a Mustang. 🐎

🔥🏈 GREMLIN SZN x WOLLONGONG MUSTANGS 🏈🔥
We’re incredibly excited to announce that Gremlin SZN and the Wollongong Mustangs are joining forces for the 2026 Women’s Flag Football season!
This partnership gives our Mustang women the opportunity to get on the field this season, playing alongside Gremlin SZN while still proudly representing the Wollongong Mustangs under our club banner.
On the road, our girls will suit up in the Gremlin SZN uniforms 😈 — but when we bring it home to Wollongong, they’ll proudly pull on our incredible Mustangs Indigenous uniforms. 🖤❤️💛
Mustangs President Morgan Whittall said:
“We are extremely excited for the opportunity to partner with such a distinguished team. We know our players will not only have the opportunity to learn from a great organisation, but also create a lifelong connection between our two teams. A massive thanks to Bree Payne for allowing our girls to join their team, and we can’t wait to hear the entire Mustangs club cheering them on this season.”
This is bigger than getting a team onto the field. It’s about growing the women’s game, creating opportunities, building connections and showing what can happen when two teams come together to back women in sport.
And to our Mustang family…
You already know what to do. 👀
When these girls hit Wollongong, we want the sidelines LOUD.
We want the RED, WHITE & GOLD EVERYWHERE.
We want the whole Mustang family behind them.
Because the Gremlins are coming…
The Mustangs are coming…
😈🐎 AND WE’RE READY TO MAKE CHAOS. 🐎😈
