⭐ Outstanding results for golf athlete Sage Laird ⭐

A huge congratulations to Sage for recently winning the Ladies Links Shell Cove Open and the Wollongong Open 👏

At the Links Shell Cove Open, Sage shot +8 and won in a 3-hole playoff, and at the Wollongong Open she finished 1st with a +6. Well done Sage! 🏆

🚨 REMINDER! 🚨

Nominations are still open for the Community First Bank IAS Athlete of the Month Award until July 31! 🏆

Each month during the scholarship year, one athlete will be awarded $100, courtesy of our long-term major partner, Community First Bank. A new winner will be announced every month through this joint initiative.

Nominations can come from athletes, parents, coaches and community members. Nominees are considered based on athletic performance and continued commitment to the IAS values of citizenship, empowerment, integrity and excellence.

💚 TEAM AUSTRALIA 💛

Fantastic support from the NSW Government for Team Australia ahead of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

We are especially proud of our Illawarra Academy of Sport alumni athletes Sarah Carli who will compete in the 400m hurdles at her second Commonwealth Games, and Para-Swimmer Jasmine Greenwood who will compete in her third Commonwealth Games. Congratulations Sarah and Jasmine! 👏

🌟 Build Inclusive Sporting Environments 🌟

The Illawarra Academy of Sport is encouraging members of the community, coaches, support staff, administrators and sporting organisations across our region to take part in FREE Disability Awareness Workshops delivered by Paralympics Australia in partnership with the Australian Disability Network.

These online workshops are designed to build confidence, increase understanding and help create more inclusive environments for Para athletes, staff and the wider sporting community.

Whether you're a coach, volunteer, administrator, performance support practitioner or work behind the scenes in sport, this is a fantastic opportunity to expand your knowledge and make a positive impact.

📅 Dates: 6 – 30 July 2026
📍 When: Every Monday, Wednesday & Thursday
🕑 Time: 2:00pm – 3:30pm
💻 Location: Online (limited to 20 participants per session)

The 2026 Athlete Awards Night will be held on Friday August 28 at The Fraternity Club, 6pm arrival for a 6:30pm start 🎉

🏑 Congratulations to our latest Community Champion, Toby Peoples!

At just 14 years old, Toby is already making his mark in hockey with an incredible list of achievements, including selection in the Hockey Australia U16 Squad, the NSW U16 State Team, and the NSW U15 All Schools Team.

He's also earned a place in UOW Hockey Club's Men's First Grade team, a remarkable achievement for someone his age.

Next up, Toby will represent the U15 All Schools Team at the School Sport Australia Championships in Melbourne later this month.

We're proud to recognise Toby's dedication, talent and hard work, and can't wait to see what he achieves next. Congratulations, Toby! 👏
