If you’ve stepped inside the Illawarra Sports & Community Precinct (ISCP) lately, you know the feeling. It’s the sound of sneakers squeaking on polished wood, the roar of a crowd during a Saturday final, or the buzz of community groups meeting in our halls. You can feel the energy.

But as the Illawarra region continues to grow, so does the demand for high-quality, indoor spaces. Our current facilities have served us well, but to meet the needs of the next generation, we must look ahead. The ISCP isn’t just maintaining what we have—we are ready to grow.

We aren't just talking about "fixing up" the stadium. We have a Development Application (DA) already approved by Wollongong City Council that will transform the ISCP into a premier regional destination. This is a massive leap forward for local sport, health, and recreation.

In the world of community sports, there are players, there are coaches, and then there are the architects—the people who build the foundations that allow everyone else to play.

Last month, as we gathered to celebrate the official launch of the Illawarra Sports & Community Precinct (ISCP), we took a moment to honour one such architect. We are incredibly proud to announce that one of our two primary indoor court areas has been officially dedicated as ‘The Ian Richardson Hall’.

If you’ve played basketball or netball in the Illawarra over the last three decades, you’ve benefited from Ian’s work, likely without even knowing it.

The Illawarra Hawks Basketball produced a remarkable sporting moment that showcased the very best of the game and inspired fans across the region. Today we had a visit from Illawarra Hawks Basketball and the Dr John Raschke Trophy.
Thank you for having us as part of the journey and we can't wait for the next NBL campaign.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, is a big day to get down to Illawarra Sports Stadium.

Illawarra District Netball Association have their walking Netball program on. Starting from 930am and going to 11am, $9 per person allows you to be part of all the action, and enjoy morning tea after the session.
