After more than an hour of rain delays, the match was reduced to 15 overs per side. Fury came out firing, with back-in-form Ramim blasting 36 from 24 balls and Kazi Farhan contributing 11 from 9 as the pair capitalised on the Powerplay.
Cadets fought back with some outstanding catches and timely wickets, forcing Fury into a rebuilding phase. Zaied 20 (18), Abir 26 (16), and Angan 10 (9) responded superbly, steadying the innings and maintaining the scoring rate. Their efforts helped Fury post a competitive total of 9/132 from their 15 overs.

Fury's bowling attack, one of the team's major strengths, was outstanding once again. Shakib set the tone with an excellent spell of 2/17 (3), while Player of the Match Zaied produced a devastating performance, taking 4/7 from just 2 overs. Angan was equally impressive with figures of 2/9 (3), and dependable death bowler Kazi Farhan chipped in with 1/8 (2).

Strong fielding and safe hands in the field, particularly from Shadman, helped keep the pressure on the Cadets throughout the innings. The result was a dominant bowling display that saw Cadets dismissed for just 68, handing Fury a convincing 64-run victory.

With one game remaining, Fury controls its own destiny. A win in the final group match could secure third place and potentially even second, ensuring progression to the next stage of the competition.

With a well-balanced team announced prior to play, the Fury openers couldn't get away at the start. The middle order carried the team against a very good Scorpion Spirit bowling attack, which had a mix of experience and exuberant youth. Afnan again scored superbly with a wonderful 45 (31) and was very well supported by a stylish Ishbat Mahin 26 (25). Then a second brilliant middle order partnership between Zaied 50* (40) and Kazi Farhan 29* (21) took the score to a very solid total of 4/173.
Fury's bowling didn't get off to the best start, conceding some runs early on. But some strong middle-order bowling performances by Zaied 4/21 (4) and Sami Khan 2/26 (4) made the Scorpions' task more difficult. Shakib came back from his opening spell in the middle overs, taking 1/38 (4). Shuhel ended up with 2/28 (3).
Scorpions got really close (10/169), needing only 13 runs off the last 12 balls. Shakib's 19th over was incredible, taking 1 for 5, and then Zaied, in the game's penultimate over, took 1 wicket and 2 runs, getting Fury over the line for a much-needed win.
WHAT A GAME!!!

Wollongong Fury vs Striking Burners, Saturday, 09 May 2026, 1 PM (Afternoon)
Another week, another test of character for Wollongong Fury.
After last weekโs disappointing loss to Sydney Gangsters, Fury faced an even greater challenge against two-time BCL champions Striking Burners - a side strengthened by an explosive batting lineup and considered one of the tournament favourites.
Burners won the toss and elected to bat on a perfect cricket day: clear skies, no wind, and ideal batting conditions.
The innings began in ominous fashion for Fury. Yellow Cap holder Agnik Poddar launched the first over with two sixes and a boundary from other explosive batter, Md Nirzer Islam, immediately putting the pressure on the bowlers. Fury even put down an early chance, and Burners looked set for a massive total. But Fury responded brilliantly. A well-executed plan eventually paid off when Man of the Match Kazi Farhan produced an outstanding catch at long-on to dismiss the dangerous Poddar and swing momentum back towards Fury.
From that moment on, Furyโs bowlers applied relentless pressure. Tight lines, disciplined ex*****on, and superb field placements restricted Burners to 3/68 after 10 overs. A major tactical success was Hifjurโs excellent wicketkeeping up to the stumps - a strategy planned weeks in advance - which helped keep the batters under constant pressure. Furyโs disciplined attack never allowed Burners to settle, eventually bowling them out for 116 in 19.3 overs.
The bowling unit delivered collectively:
* Kazi Farhan: 4/20 (4)
* Zaied: 3/18 (3.3)
* Shakib: 2/16 (4)
* Sami: 0/18 (3)
* Angan: 0/18 (4), providing excellent support with sharp off-spin

Furyโs reply started positively, with Hifjur scoring a quick 12 off 8 balls and Ramim anchoring the innings with a composed 24 off 30 deliveries. The backbone of the chase came from Afnan, whose mature and controlled 40 off 44 balls guided Fury through the middle overs and kept the innings steady under pressure.
Zaied then injected momentum with a rapid 18 off just 7 balls, putting Fury firmly in control before Abirโs unbeaten 14 off 9 deliveries calmly finished the chase.
This victory was built on discipline and ex*****on. Furyโs bowlers were exceptional throughout the innings, consistently maintaining pressure and rarely offering loose deliveries. Every bowler played their role perfectly, while the batters showed composure and maturity in the chase to secure an important win against one of the competitionโs strongest teams.

Wollongong Fury vs Sydney Gangsters, Saturday, 02 May 2026, 9 AM (Morning Match).
It was another challenging outing for the Fury brothers this weekend as they came up against a strong and disciplined Sydney Gangsters side.
Sydney Gangsters won the toss and elected to bowl first, backing their bowling unit to make early inroads - and that decision paid immediate dividends.
Fury struggled to find momentum from the outset, collapsing to 5/33 shortly after the power play. Hifjur received a standout moment with a superb delivery that nipped back to clip the top of off stump. However, several of the remaining wickets fell to unforced errors, with Furyโs shot selection proving costly against the Gangstersโ consistent and well-directed bowling attack.
Despite the early setbacks, there were glimpses of resistance. Kazi Farhan showed determination with a patient 16 (21), while Shuhel added a quick 16 (14), injecting some urgency into the innings. Unfortunately, the lower order couldnโt capitalize, and Fury were bowled out for 82 in 14.4 overs.
Furyโs response in the field was commendable and continues to be a growing strength of the side. Their bowling, catching, and overall fielding efforts kept them competitive throughout. Shakib led the attack impressively with 2/11 (2), while Zaied delivered a tight spell of 0/8 (3), and Kazi contributed with 1/8 (2). The teamโs energy and discipline in the field once again reinforced their developing reputation as a formidable bowling unit.
While the result didnโt go their way, Fury will take valuable lessons from this encounter. With resilience and improvement evident, they now look ahead to a crucial clash against the formidable two-time BCL champions, Striking Burners - a perfect opportunity to bounce back stronger.
