The National Drowning Report 2026 has been released by Royal Life Saving Society – Australia in partnership with Surf Life Saving Australia.
Australia recorded 313 drowning deaths in 2025/26. While this is lower than the previous year, it remains 10% above the 10-year average.
The report highlights that strengthening swimming and water safety skills across Australia remains an important part of reducing drowning.
At DLSA, we believe swimming lessons are about more than learning to swim — they help build skills and confidence around the water.
As we head into the warmer months, make water safety part of your summer plans.
