It was never about the flowers.

It was always about community.

About belonging.

About creating spaces where strangers become friends, everyone has something to give, and no one leaves feeling invisible.

The flowers were simply how we found each other. 💐

Ever wondered where our repurposed flowers go? 💐
Flowers that have reached the end of their retail life are given a beautiful new beginning — transformed into something much bigger.

Into the hands of women who connect, create and contribute, finding purpose in what they make. And then, into aged care homes and the hands of seniors and hospice patients.

A smile. A conversation. A moment of feeling seen.
Because a flower may be nearing the end of its life… but the joy it can bring is far from over. 💗

One bunch of flowers. Joy at both ends.

Who would you give flowers to today? 🌸

Another trip around the sun 🎂💐

And one of my favourite things? Giving flowers away and seeing the joy they create.

But somewhere along the way, I realised it was never really just about the flowers.

I created The REED Collective to create opportunities for people to connect, contribute and flourish — to discover that they have something meaningful to give, too. ❤️

Because sometimes the smallest act of giving can create a much bigger shift — in someone else, and in ourselves.

Another year older, still learning, still dreaming… and still filling my car with ridiculous amounts of flowers. 😂🌸

And perhaps REED is ready for its next chapter too. 👀🌱

Something exciting is coming. More soon.

This is what one “yes” can grow into. 🌸

Sandy from Floraco said yes.
Teri from Jessons said yes.

And today, there were all these hands — trimming, arranging, sharing and laughing. Taking blooms that still had something to give and giving them another chance.

20kg of donated blooms. Two aged care homes. Many hands. A whole lot of joy. ❤️

And this is the part that gets me every time.

The joy goes both ways.
There’s joy in receiving flowers. But there’s something just as special about being the one who gets to make them, give them and know you’ve brightened someone else’s day.

Maybe that’s what re-blooming has taught me.

Just because something is at the end of one chapter doesn’t mean it has nothing left to give. 🌸

To our florist community — if you have blooms with a little more to give, we’d love to give them another chance.

Some news is harder to hear than others. The end of an era. 💐

This month, we learnt that after 43 years in business, Floraco will officially close its doors on 30 September. This one is hard to write.

For Bloom Well, Floraco was never just a flower supplier. They were one of the first to believe in us.

Back in 2024, Bloom Well started with an idea. I sent more than 25 cold emails to florists and flower suppliers across Perth, hoping someone might believe that flowers at the end of their retail life could be given another purpose.

Sandy from Floraco replied. She said yes.
That yes meant more than a donation of flowers. It gave an untested idea a chance.

Since then, Floraco's generosity has helped us turn hundreds of blooms into something more — bringing joy to aged care residents, comfort to hospital patients, and creating opportunities for women from diverse backgrounds to connect, create and contribute.

Looking back, I don't think Sandy could have known just how far that first yes would travel. 💛

I'm getting emotional writing this because Floraco has become part of the Bloom Well story. Every bucket and bunch they put aside for us carried their generosity far beyond their doors and into the lives of people they may never meet.

Sometimes an idea just needs someone to believe in it and say yes. For us, one of those first people was Sandy and the Floraco team.

Thank you for believing in us when we were just beginning. Thank you for your generosity, your kindness and every single bloom.

Floraco, you will always be part of the Bloom Well story. 🌸💛

This week (3–9 August) is Homelessness Week Australia.

This year's theme, Homelessness Action Now, reminds us that ending homelessness requires all of us to play a part.

At Kind Joy Art, we believe children don't have to wait until they're adults to make a difference.

Over the years, our young volunteers have handed out new socks to people experiencing homelessness across Perth. A simple gift, but one that quietly says, "You matter. You are seen. You are not forgotten."

A pair of socks won't solve homelessness. But kindness can restore dignity, open hearts and remind someone they are worthy of care.

Imagine the world we could create if every child grew up believing compassion isn't just something we feel—it's something we do. 💛

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful women of Soroptimist International South Perth for inviting me to share the story of Bloom Well. I left feeling deeply encouraged, humbled and so grateful.

Thank you for not only supporting Bloom Well, but for seeing the heart behind it—that every flower still has beauty to give, every person deserves to feel seen, and that kindness can keep being passed on.

What touched me most was knowing the flowers on each table didn't end with the breakfast. They were bloomed forward to bring joy to residents in aged care. Such a simple act, yet it captures exactly what Bloom Well is all about.

Your generosity, friendship and support mean more than you know. We don't change the world on our own; we do it together, one small act of kindness at a time. 🌸💛
