🏆 WINNER WINNER, SCHNITTY DINNER

Our very first Legend of the Week is Emily Sinfield!

Emily kicked Port FC’s first ever WFLW goal in their opening game. A little bit of history, and clearly plenty of people thought it deserved some love too 💚🤍

But truthfully, the absolute best part of this whole thing was seeing the support for all four nominees.

Olivia, Anastasia, Belinda and Emily were nominated for completely different reasons. And then people took the time to vote, share the post and make sure they knew their efforts had been noticed.

People are the most important part of any footy club. Always have been. Every one of these four deserved their nomination and we hope they all felt the love this week ❤️

Congratulations Emily! Your personalised bottle of wine, hat, stubby holder and schnitty voucher are ready to go.

A big thank you to EDP Bayview, Hotel Spencer and Liquor Legends for putting together our first prize pack.

A DRAW. DEBUT GOALS. AND A BAG OF FIVE.

South Augusta, North Whyalla and Central Augusta made it two from two, while Roopena Women’s and West Whyalla couldn’t be split. Our first draw of the season!

Five goals for Tamika Reid takes her tally to eight, while Olivia Marschall is right up there with four after playing just her second game of footy. Ever.

A couple of special firsts too. Hannah Sexton booted two on debut, Port Women’s Zali Congdon kicked one in her senior women’s debut and West Augusta’s Khoda Robinson worked hard for her first senior women’s goal in a tough, contested match.

Weeroona Bay had the bye and returns next round.

NEW THIS SEASON: LEGEND OF THE WEEK

We’re doing something a bit different this season.

Each round we’re getting out and about, finding one nomination from every game to go into the running for our “Legend of the Week” And that could mean anything really. A big game, a great act of sportsmanship, someone doing something for the first time. Maybe it’s the person quietly doing everything behind the scenes while everyone else gets to enjoy the footy.

Doesn’t have to be best on ground. Just someone who deserves a proper shoutout for that round.

Then we’ll chuck the nominees up here and let you choose our Legend of the Week.

So here we go. Our first four 👇

* North Whyalla’s Olivia Marschall played her first ever game of footy and kicked her first goal. You couldn’t ask for a much better start than that!

* Anastasia Pezos kicked three goals for South’s but it wasn’t just that. She was all class out there and is always so positive and respectful towards her teammates AND the opposition.

* Belinda Myles at Central Augusta doesn’t need the spotlight. She just quietly gets things done and is always thinking of everyone else. A genuine club legend. Oh, and she’s pretty handy on the field too.

* And Emily Sinfield kicked Port Football Club’s first ever WFL Women's goal. At home. In front of the Port faithful. Forever a part of Port FC’s history now 💚🤍

All four have absolutely earned their nominations. We just need you to choose who gets the little well done prize this week.

ROUND ONE. THAT WAS FUN!

Season Four is officially up and running.

Wins to North Whyalla, South Whyalla, Central Augusta and South Augusta, who made a serious statement that they are here to play!

A pretty big moment too, with both Port Football Club and South Augusta playing their first WFLW game.

Ward, Pezos, Reid and Moon share the early goal kicking lead with three each, while plenty of familiar faces and new names made their way onto the best player lists.

West Whyalla joins the action next round.

Round 1 of the Whyalla Football League Women’s Comp saw South Augusta get a good win over the inexperienced but determined Port Football Club - Port Pirie at Port Oval tonight. 🎯

The MGA Insurance Group $50 Player of The Match award was handed to Seraphina Moon who was outstanding all night.
