Hi swimmers,
You may have seen our recent email, and the news is true:

Swim for the Reef is always a highlight of our year - something we look forward to and love taking part in every summer. But with exciting changes happening at EDO and a flood of climate and environmental litigation and law reform work, we've decided to defer this summer's Swim for the Reef.
We'd like to take a moment to sincerely thank you for all your support so far that's enabled us to do great legal work to protect our Reef. Through your colossal effort, we've raised nearly $๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฌ,๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ and swam over ๐ญ,๐ฑ๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ธ๐ถ๐น๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐! It's been an incredible display of support and community, and we tip our snorkel to everyone who dove in and took part.

Dear Musgrave Park Swimmers,
The Musgrave Park Pool, West End, is closing for 18 months for renovations from 5pm Easter Monday 22 April.
Why not drop by for a swim and a chat that Monday from 12 noon- 5pm?
At the request of managers Alan and Ella, there will be a small number of casual fun races in the afternoon at 3:30pm.
Itโs going to be adhoc, maybe bring your inflatables and some food to share.
Hope to see you there
Cheers, Jo Bragg

Meet the Magnetic Island Sweetlips!
They are a team of twelve environmentally-conscious Magnetic Island residents who swam over 100 kilometres for Swim for The Reef 2019, and raised a stunning $2,489.
The Great Barrier Reef is important to the Magnetic Island Sweetlips as their location means they can see first-hand the impacts of various activities on the Reef, particularly climate change.
โItโs part of our daily living, being in the Great Barrier Reef environment, so we can see the pressures on the Reef and we want to help the environment of Magnetic Island and the region.โ
As Magnetic Island is mostly a National Park within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, the team believes it is important, as residents, to contribute to the conservation of the Reef for present and future generations.
The idea to set up the team drew on the experience of one of its members, Lea, who participated in this campaign as an individual swimmer last year. By creating the Magnetic Island Sweetlips, the team hopes to generate more participation of local residents in this campaign as most of the other teams involved are city and southside based.
โWe care about what happens to the environment around us and want to see it protected for future generations and the many people that currently come to visit from Australia and overseas. We want to ensure that our passion translates into further support for the proper stewardship and management of the Reef in 2019.โ
Thank you Magnetic Island Sweetlips! Your efforts and enthusiasm have been awesome!

The Environmental Defenders Office does amazing work for our community. This is not without it's cost, and if taking action helps them defend the reef it's super important we do so! We're trying to raise funds and swim as far as we can, so please either get involved or donate through this page!
