Train your awareness for seven days.
Awareness is one of the most important qualities we cultivate through traditional martial arts.
Before we can change the way we move, respond or act, we first need to notice what we're already doing.
I've put together a free 7 Days of Awareness Practice Workbook to help you explore this for yourself.
Across seven days, you'll practise noticing your habits, triggers, body, intention and environment, before exploring the moment where you can begin to choose your response.
There's no previous martial arts experience required. These are simple practices designed to be carried into everyday life.
The workbook is completely free.
Begin with Day 1 and see what you notice.

Another good night in the kwoon.
One of the things I enjoy most about Kung Fu Blue Mountains is the mix of people who come together to train.
Different ages, different levels of experience and different reasons for beginning, but everyone sharing the same space, learning, practising and helping each other improve.
A great group of people and a good night of training. 🤜🏻🫷🏻

A great place for a little Kung Fu practice.
I took the Wing Chun long pole out into the Blue Mountains for some training over the weekend.
There’s something particularly enjoyable about taking a practice normally confined to the training hall and simply finding some space outside to train.
No lesson today. No deep philosophy.
Just Kung Fu, a long pole and a pretty spectacular view. 🤜🏻🫷🏻

☯️ Balance isn’t about standing still.
In Tai Chi, balance is something we learn to maintain while moving.
As our practice develops, we become more aware of where our weight is, where unnecessary tension is being held, and how subtle changes within the body affect our stability.
Over time, we learn to move, release and transfer our weight without losing our structure or control.
It’s one of the things I enjoy about Tai Chi: a seemingly simple movement can give you an enormous amount to explore.

A place for teenagers to train, challenge themselves and grow. 🥋
Our Juniors Kung Fu classes give young people aged 12–15 the opportunity to develop practical martial arts skills alongside others their own age.
Through training they build confidence, discipline and awareness, learn to work with different partners and gradually take on new challenges.
They train hard, learn from each other and, as you can probably tell from the photo, have some fun along the way.
If your teenager is looking for something active, challenging and rewarding, come and see what we do at Kung Fu Blue Mountains in Wentworth Falls.

Sometimes the best response to pressure isn't to fight against it.
This week in our Wing Chun classes we're working on yielding — learning to recognise incoming force, maintain our structure and adapt rather than meeting strength with strength.
It's one of those principles that becomes increasingly subtle the longer you train. Yielding isn't simply giving way. It's learning when to hold, when to move and how to remain connected while the situation changes.
Wing Chun classes for adults and teens are held here in Wentworth Falls.
