At first, underwater rugby can look a little chaotic.

Then you start noticing what’s actually happening.

Players are creating space, covering teammates, moving between the surface and the bottom, and looking for the right moment to make a play.

There’s a lot more going on beneath the surface than you might think.

A few moments from last weekend’s tournament. 🤿

Good games, good people and plenty of time underwater.

Here are a few of our favourite moments from the day.

Most underwater rugby matches are played in pools that are 3.5 to 5 metres deep.

That depth gives players enough space to dive, pass and defend beneath the surface while keeping the game fast and dynamic.

Training pools can vary depending on the facilities available, but official competitions are played within this depth range to ensure consistent playing conditions.

It's another reason why underwater rugby is unlike any other team sport.

If you're already a confident swimmer, you already have one of the most important skills for underwater rugby.

Swimming provides a strong foundation through body awareness, breath control and confidence in the water.

Underwater rugby builds on those skills with teamwork, strategy and quick decision making beneath the surface.

If you've spent years in the pool and you're looking for your next challenge, we'd love to welcome you to training.

Trying a new sport can feel intimidating.

What most people notice after their first underwater rugby session isn't how difficult the sport is. It's how welcoming the club is.

Nobody expects you to know everything on day one. You'll learn the basics, meet supportive teammates and spend time getting comfortable in the water at your own pace.

Whether you've come from swimming, water polo or you're completely new to underwater sports, everyone starts somewhere.

We'd love to welcome you to a training session.

One of the things that surprises new players is how often teammates enter and leave the pool.

Unlike many sports, substitutions can happen at any time. Players rotate regularly because underwater rugby is played in short, high intensity bursts beneath the surface.

Fresh players can enter immediately while teammates recover, helping teams maintain their intensity and adapt their tactics throughout the game.

It's one of the reasons underwater rugby is such a fast paced and dynamic sport.

If you've spent years in the pool, you already know how rewarding it is to be in the water.

Underwater rugby takes those skills into a team environment where communication, strategy and trust are just as important as swimming ability.

Whether you swam competitively, train regularly or simply enjoy being in the water, there's always room to learn, improve and be part of a welcoming club.

Are you a confident swimmer? Perhaps you've even competed before.

Swimming gives you a strong foundation. Comfort in the water, body awareness and breath control all play an important part.

Underwater rugby builds on those skills in a completely different environment.

While you're playing, you'll be making decisions, working with teammates, protecting the ball and adapting to the play around you.

It's a chance to use the skills you've already developed in a whole new way.
