After a hugely successful Females in Officiating Motorsports program in 2024, we are extending it even further in 2025!

We are hosting a series of training and awareness workshops for females who are keen to get into motorsport officiating, or looking to expand their knowledge.

Details are as follows (more to come):

Date: 2nd – 3rd August (Saturday/Sunday)
Venue: Sports House – 337 Christine Ave, Varsity Lakes
Time: 9am start

With the Historic Leyburn Sprints on the 23rd and 24th August, this then provides you with the perfect opportunity to put those skills into real life! As a special incentive, we are offering those who attend both the training and the Sprints, a $150 fuel voucher to help towards expenses (these will be given to you at the Sprints).

As supporters of the Queensland Circuit Racing State Championship and of junior driver development it is great to see Formula Ford Australia return to Queensland again this year and take in QCRSC Round 3 at Morgan Park Raceway.

Last year Queenslander Liam Loiacono Motorsport swept all before him despite intense pressure, and took the lap record for good measure along the way. His car was prepared and race engineered by well known local Brett Francis and the BF Racing team. This year their lead driver is Townsville-based Lockie Evennett in the former Ryder Quinn car, and he's doing a stellar job at the front of the field giving Queensland someone to get behind.

Hailing from the Sunshine Coast is AJ Gealy. He spent time in the Formula Ford 1600s last year (the Cortina-powered State cars), and for this year has a deal with Sydney-based Anglo Motorsport to do the National series, giving us a second Queenslander in the mix.

As always the Queensland Formula Ford 1600 Championship is supporting all 5 rounds of QCRSC, and after last year's event allowed for the Kent/Cortina engines and Duratec/Fiesta engines to be separate, for this year they will be running together (it's a mega program of categories after all). If you are interested in racing Queensland State-level in the future, here is a great opportunity to get to the track and learn more about the simplicity of the Kent/Cortina engine package with plenty of welcoming locals happy to show you.

How to pick the difference? If the exhaust is on the left and there's a carby or an engine hatch bulge on the right it's probably a Kent. Meanwhile, if you can see an air filter when you look through the roll hoop from the front, and the exhaust comes out the right side, it's probably the more expensive Duratec. If it has 15 inch wheels, no radiators, and two big round horizontal bars across the front where the suspension hangs off, well, you are probably looking at a Formula Vee!

Morgan Park Raceway this weekend, June 6-8, Practice Friday, Qualifying Saturday morning and then racing the rest of the weekend.
