β«οΈβͺοΈ Toowoomba Rangers 31 def Warwick Water Rats 17 βͺοΈβ«οΈ
The Water Rats travelled to Goondiwindi for Super Saturday to take on the Toowoomba Rangers. With the scoreboard swinging both ways throughout the match, it unfortunately went the Rangers' way at the final whistle.
Player of the Match goes to front rower Will Ole for some huge hits in defence and his efforts to shut down multiple attempts to bend our line.
Special mentions to Brad Johnson for his work in the air at lineout time, as well as some great last-ditch tackles when the pressure was on. Lui Naimoso also put in a huge shift defending his wing, which was heavily targeted throughout the game.
Tries:
Ratu Sekove Nabili (2)
Bailey Steel
Conversions:
Paul Christensen
While our men's season ends here, we couldn't be prouder of the players, coaching staff, club members, supporters and sponsors who have helped carry the Water Rats this far.
It's been a huge year for the club, with the most teams we've entered into the competition in many years, including Men's, Women's 7s and Colts. We're looking forward to building on this in 2027.
Keep an eye out for an end-of-season Water Rats wrap-up, as well as where you can catch some of our players in action during the off-season.

β«οΈβͺοΈ Warwick Water Rats 27 def Toowoomba Rangers 22 βͺοΈβ«οΈ
The Water Rats wrapped up the regular season with an exciting 27-22 win over the Toowoomba Rangers. The boys played with confidence, shifting the ball wide and backing themselves to create some great attacking opportunities in an entertaining contest.
Player of the Match goes to prop James Daniels, who played a key role in another strong performance from the scrum while also making plenty of hard carries over the gain line throughout the afternoon.
Special mentions this week to the mercurial Jone Donato, who once again danced his way through the defensive line on multiple occasions, finishing the first half with a hat-trick. Mini Covilati also put in a huge shift, carrying the ball time and time again to get the boys on the front foot and laying a great platform for the team.
Tries:
Jone Donato (3)
Paul Christensen
Samisoni Muavou
Conversions:

That win sees the Rats finish the regular season in 3rd place on the ladder.
This weekend the boys head to Goondiwindi for Super Saturday, where they'll take on 4th-placed Toowoomba Rangers in a qualifying final, just one week after meeting in the final round of the regular season.

β«οΈβͺοΈ St George Frillies 47 def Warwick Water Rats 31 βͺοΈβ«οΈ
The Water Rats made the long bus trip out to St George for another physical battle with the Frillies, eventually going down 47-31. We started the game well with an early try but couldn't quite keep pace with the home side for much of the afternoon. To the boys' credit, they never stopped competing, finishing the game strongly with a couple of late tries before the final whistle.
Apologies for the delayed match report. After your resident match report writer Dean (who also happens to play prop occasionally) picked up a season-ending injury during the game, recovery has taken priority over typing this one up.
Player of the Match goes to halfback Hamish Swift. His service from the base of the ruck was outstanding all day, and his support lines around the field were a real strength in our attack.
Special mentions this week to Brad Johnson, or as he's more affectionately known by the Frillies, "Parra". Whether it's because of his love for the Eels, or more likely the "high quality" Eels tattoo on his shoulder, he rolled back the years with another crafty performance that kept defenders guessing.
Mick Cahill also put in another huge shift with his strong carries and leadership around the park. Kaveni Serewai continued his impressive run of form, making an impact with ball in hand while putting plenty of pressure on the opposition attack, and Jone Donato was dangerous every time he got his hands on the ball.
Tries:
Isikeli Nakoroilagilagi
Jone Donato (2)

β«οΈβͺοΈ Warwick Water Rats 40 def Toowoomba Bears 5 βͺοΈβ«οΈ
The Water Rats travelled to USQ to take on the Toowoomba Bears and came away with another strong 40-5 win. The boys weren't afraid to throw the ball around, stretching the field and backing their speed to create plenty of exciting attacking opportunities. Up front, the scrum was a real weapon, pinching a few against the feed and giving the backline plenty of quality ball to work with.
Player of the Match goes to Lui Naimoso for another strong performance, carrying the ball with plenty of intent and finishing the day with a well-earned double.
Special mentions this week to Alosio Abele, who was again a handful with his powerful runs and solid defence. Credit also goes to the starting front row of Mick Cahill, Toby Rozynski and James Daniels, who laid a great platform while the scrums were still contested. Their work at set piece, combined with some tough carries and strong work around the ruck, helped the boys build momentum throughout the match.

This week's side will be led by long-term player William Ole, with the team ready to put in a strong performance. The work has been done throughout the week. Now it's about backing each other, playing for the badge, and leaving everything out on the field.

β«οΈβͺοΈ Warwick Water Rats 64 def Condamine Cods 0 βͺοΈβ«οΈ
The Warwick Water Rats travelled to Condamine and came away with a 64-0 victory over the Cods. The team played with plenty of confidence throughout, shifting the ball well and making full use of their athleticism to create exciting attacking opportunities. The performance certainly made for a high-spirited bus trip home.
Player of the Match goes to Jone Donato, who continued his outstanding season by dancing through the defensive line and making something out of seemingly nothing. His creativity with ball in hand was on full display as he crossed for two tries.
Special mentions also to Bailey Steel for stepping into the flyhalf role with our regular No. 10 unavailable. He controlled the game well, provided a crucial link across the park, and added a conversion to his name (though he might have had a few more if not for the "rubbish kicking tee"). Semisi "Misi" Qaranivalu was once again a nightmare for defenders, repeatedly charging through the defensive line to set up multiple tries, while Samisoni "Sami" Muavou ran the ball strongly and linked beautifully with the outside backs to create several exciting attacking movements.
