We are extremely proud to share the exciting news that our skaters Smasha and Sassinator had success at the JRDA Team Australia Juniors 2027 tryouts.

SMASHA - has been named in the Team Australia Junior’s 2027 Open Team.
All the hard work you have put in at training, scrims and behind the scenes to get to this position have paid off. We can’t wait to see you in Scotland.

SASSINATOR - has joined the developmental squad so look out 2029 Worlds because they are heading your way. Seize this opportunity with both hands and run with it, the only way is up.

We also want to congratulate all the skaters who were selected or attended tryouts. You are all amazing and the future of derby is safe in your hands.

Looking forward to an awesome match this weekend at Statewide Stampede in Warragul. Our Warrnambool players get to test their skills against their coach! The Mad Splatter will be playing for the Ratpack where they get to see how far their team mates have come!

TRV will be featuring Lady Killaton, Dragonfly and ST3v3 with Evil Offspring benching versus The Mad Splatter when we clash against our close friends from the Ballarat Roller Derby League at 11am

Dragonfly will also be playing as a guest for NEWS at 5pm and officiating throughout the day alongside team mates Eviloffspring, St3v3 and Lady Killaton.

And off they fly! Metaphorically at this stage, our Cupids Smasha and Sass are off to Windsor NSW to tryouts for junior team Australia, with their support crew of parents and coach.

They will be joining their Ballarat Roller Derby League skate mate Corbindrick

Wish them all luck on the this amazing adventure of learning, trying new things, making connections with other leagues and skaters and just having a whole lot of fun.

(Coach only going to cheer on. No coaching skills required as they will all be in very capable hands already)

Statewide Stampede - Victorian Roller Derby Tournament Round 5

Although Team Regional Victoria has a bye this weekend, WRDL skaters and their support people are still travelling up the Hume to Wangaratta to represent.

Up first is Smasha and EvilOffspring in the Modcon game at 9am. Followed by Dragonfly guesting for SEA at 11am. And you’ll see these keen derby faces doing the official things right throughout the day.

Three of our junior skaters attended the NextGen Roller Derby Showcase on the weekend; skating in both modified and full contact.

Not only did they learn lots, develop new friendships and play hard, two came home with MVPs- Sassinator MVP Jammer and Liddle Menace Vibes.

Thanks to everyone for putting this together; especially hosts WestSide Roller Derby and all the coaches, NSOs and, of course, all the other skaters. We couldn’t be prouder.

Come dressed to impress in your best vintage pinup gear or old-school derby uniform. We’ll be blasting plenty of feminist rock and powerhouse anthems all night.
