I’ve experienced being at my strongest.
And I’ve experienced being brought back to my weakest just like a lot of others have too.

Injuries. Setbacks. Self doubt. Times where my body simply wouldn’t do what I wanted it to.

When you’re used to being capable, losing that ability can change your entire perspective.

Because strength isn’t something we’re entitled to.

Being able bodied isn’t something we’re entitled to.

It’s a privilege.

I’ve had the opportunity to train with and coach people with severe disabilities, people who are wheelchair bound, people whose physical limitations would change everything about the way most of us live our lives.

And yet, some of the hardest workers I’ve ever seen have been in those rooms.

People who would give anything to have the physical function that so many of us take for granted.

That’s something I think about often.

Because there are people who would do anything just to walk, run, squat, lift, or move without limitation. while others willingly choose comfort.

You don’t have to be an athlete.
You don’t have to chase a 300kg squat.
You don’t even have to love training.

But if you have the ability to move your body, in whatever way you can, use it.

Don’t wait until movement becomes something you wish you had to appreciate the privilege of being able to move today.

Are you training with intention?

completing a movement doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve achieved the purpose of the exercise.

Every exercise has an intention and within that exercise how you perform it needs to align with that.

Now I’m not telling you to overthink every movement to the point of it taking away progression but you should at least know
what you are trying to achieve.

This is the difference between simply moving weight and actually causing adaption in your training.

The load is the resistance, The exercise is the tool.
And your intention determines how you use that tool.

Intentional choices, intentional ex*****on, intentional effort

You will win.

Throwback to one of my favourite coaching moments when Charley Deadlifts pulled his final deadlift for a PR and a standing ovation.

Charley just turned 11 and it’s still kicking along so this definitely won’t be the last time you see him on the platform and what a moment with his dad also getting to compete alongside him.

I’m incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to influence young lifters and give the guidance that a lot of us weren’t as lucky to have access to at this age and I will keep doing all that I can to continue that.

Moral of the story strength is for everyone and y’all need to have a bit more dawwwg in ya.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿BAREVAN STONE SCOTLAND🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I’m by no means a strongman or stone lifter but as I said it would be a disservice to particularly 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗧𝗛 & 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗠𝗔𝗡 𝗖𝗢𝗔𝗖𝗛 if I didn’t try at least one whilst I’m here so hopefully I did this particular one enough justice.

Strength history fascinates me and this stone was the closest to us and had history so knew I had to take up the opportunity.

I admire the respect that the stones have across Scotland and other countries so if you are going to attempt them make sure you do the same.

⛓️‍💥WORLD WIDE STRENGTH ⛓️‍💥

I genuinely make it a mission to train and experience gyms and training environments in every country or place we go to and now I have stories, friendships and learnings from all over the world.

What an awesome thing it is to have a universal language of strength that you can connect with people from all over.

Next time you travel find a local gym, respect the place, respect the culture and see what memories and experiences you can create too.

⛓️‍💥ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT - - ABS pro 8

Unreal effort and experience at the comp last weekend as mentioned in the video with one of the most stacked female lineups in powerlifting history.

She ended on a

B - 100kg -2.5kg
D - 240kg +15kg BW PR

580kg total +17.5kg

Some advice for lifters.

1. Be humble.
You are not the first person to walk this path, and you won’t be the last. Someone’s already made the mistakes you’re about to make. Listen more than you talk. Ask questions. The lifters who get furthest aren’t the loudest they’re the ones still willing to learn and still show respect.

2. Make your idols your rivals.
Be inspired by your favorite lifters but don’t put them on a pedestal. They started exactly where you are. Maybe Different timeline, different genetics, maybe different journey but you don’t know what’s possible for you until you actually try. Also ask yourself what you could be doing to be at the level you want to be at.

3. Stop overthinking the nuances.
You can get too deep in majoring the minors when when you’re not even nailing the basics yet. Consistency, effort, and having a bit of DAWG in your training will make you win.

I don’t really know where to start.

I’ve not only lost a friend, a client but also someone I would call a brother.

Anyone who met Leigh knew how good of a human he was, full of banter and character.

Im so incredible grateful for every moment I had with you in the last few years, it’s a friendship I will cherish for the rest of my life.

I still remember when I met you i came home and said to Mik straight away that I knew how good of a bloke you were and how I could definitely have a beer with you.

The world has lost a good soul and my heart is heavy for anyone’s life that Leigh touched and was apart of.

Love you brother rest in power 🕊️🖤
