Formula 500s WA Unveils Exciting 2026/27 Calendar!
Formula 500s Western Australia Inc. has today officially released its 2026/27 Senior calendar, with competitors set for a 18-night campaign that spans seven months, visits eight different speedways and includes opportunities for drivers to also travel to some of the biggest events on the Australian speedway calendar.
Beginning with Powerpalooza at the Perth Motorplex on October 24, the season offers a mix of huge events, featuring the return of the popular West Coast Series, round of the Perth Motorplex Track Championships and the prestigious WA State Championship.
The opening month sees the Formula 500s feature prominently at the Perth Motorplex, with the opening Powerpalooza event followed by the first two Fast Friday meetings and a regular appearance at the King of Wings on November 14.
The category then takes a break in WA to allow those who want to, to head interstate for Napa in the City at South Australia's Napa Speedway from November 26-29 before returning home for Fast Friday 3 on December 4.
The annual West Coast Series begins at Moora Speedway on December 5 before travelling across the state throughout the summer. Rounds will then be contested at Esperance Speedway (January 23), Kalgoorlie Speedway (February 27), Albany Speedway (March 6), Margaret River Speedway (March 26) and Geraldton Speedway (April 17), ensuring competitors experience some of Western Australia's finest regional venues.
January also sees drivers able to head to Victoria for the Australian Formula 500 Championship at Avalon Speedway from January 7-9, one of the biggest meetings on the national calendar and an opportunity for WA's best to test themselves against the country's elite.
Back in Perth, the Formula 500s will feature at the Sprintcar Muster on January 2 before appearing during the prestigious Mr Sprintcar Nationals weekend on February 5 and 6, followed by the ever-popular Krikke Boys Shootout on February 12 and 13, which will once again double as the prestigious Team Ando Johnny Andersson Classic.
The season reaches its climax at the 68th WA Formula 500 Championship, to be hosted by Bunbury Speedway across April 2-3. Friday night will feature practice and the traditional Calcutta before the State's best battle for championship honours on Saturday night. It marks just the second occasion Bunbury has solely hosted the prestigious event, and the first since the 2014/15 season.
Following the State Title, competitors return to the Perth Motorplex for Fast Friday 4 on April 9 and the venue's Speedway Grand Final on April 10 before concluding the campaign with the final round of the West Coast Series at Geraldton Speedway on April 17.
With major meetings around the State, the 2026/27 Formula 500s WA season promises to deliver one of the most diverse and exciting calendars in recent memory.
Drivers, teams and fans can now begin counting down to October as another action-packed Formula 500s season prepares to roar into life!

BUNBURY TO HOST 68TH WA FORMULA 500 TITLE
The countdown is on to one of Western Australia's most prestigious open-wheel events, with Bunbury Speedway confirmed as the host venue for the 68th Western Australian Formula 500 Championship on April 2-3, 2027.
The historic event will see the state's best Formula 500 drivers converge on the South West to battle for the coveted state number one.
Action will begin on Friday, April 2, with competitors taking part in an official practice session before teams, supporters and sponsors come together for the traditional Calcutta, setting the stage for what promises to be a spectacular championship weekend. Racing to decide the 68th WA Champion will then take centre stage on Saturday, April 3.
While Bunbury Speedway has twice previously hosted rounds of a multi-track State Title Series, this will mark just the second occasion the venue has been entrusted with hosting the Western Australian Formula 500 Championship as a standalone event.
The South West circuit last hosted the title outright during the 2014/15 season, when Tom Hooper emerged victorious after an entertaining feature race, defeating Steven Ellement and Troy Johnson to claim the championship.
More than a decade later, Bunbury Speedway once again takes its place in the history books, with another chapter set to be written as a new generation of Formula 500 stars chases one of the state's most sought-after honours.
With the championship returning to one of Western Australia's premier speedway venues, fans can expect a strong field of competitors, fierce racing and an atmosphere befitting one of the biggest nights on the Formula 500 calendar.
Further event information, including nominations, ticketing and supporting classes, will be announced in the lead-up to the championship weekend.
