Well, finally, after 2 and a half months of inactivity and unresponsiveness on behalf of the Department of Infrastructure we have received all our import permits. Pity it took the involvement of the Minister's office to progress the aged and stagnating application. The new bikes will be here any day!

Lots of new battery case designs at the show.
Had a test ride of some of the belt drive options. It seems as though they are victims of the laws of physics. To keep the belts from skipping on the teeth tension needs to be applied, which in turn increases the friction on the rear bearings and BB. All the belts I rode seemed to lose a noticeable amount of power. A super low friction polymer or ceramic bearing sleeve is needed - they were also at the show.
More food for thought....This is the PPT from a seminar held in Sydney a couple of weeks ago. The guy presenting has changed Bogota from a horrid car ridden city to a green pedestrian place where businesses have thrived and people walk, cycle and congregate happily - more like a friendly village than a bustling metropolis.

More of the stylish but thin frames. I think there is a market out there for these, but probably fairly limited. Tomorrow I will try to take a ride on this style - I got there after show closing today though - a long day again. Catch you all tomorrow for some more pics and ride tests.

There were a few designs that look like they are held together with string and glue. They use very thin frame tubing, much like the early 20th century bikes in Europe. The pricing seemed a bit out there - they are stating a US$4000 retail price...phew...
