Leaving Marree in the morning. We have a briefing at the Yatch club tonight. We have spent four days rigging and repairing boats. Today is our rest day. We also moved the swimming pool and re plumbed it.
Swimming pool is a fibreglass water tank with the top cut out.

TRY SAIL SESSIONS will be held from 9.00am to approximately 11.30am on the first two Sundays in November as a free introduction to sailing for newcomers to try out sailing with experienced Club Members. From here the remaining sail training dates are to be held in a learn to sail format for those that wish to experience the full learn to sail program.
SAIL TRAINING will be held from 9.00am to approximately 11.30am on the dates above. These sessions will have a fee of $10.00 per session. WSC Membership fees also apply, those being Junior under 10 free, Junior 10 to18, $35.00, Senior over 18, $55.00.
INTRODUCTION TO RACING short races will be held starting at 10.30am and last approximately 45 minutes on a course closer in to shore than the regular afternoon racing. Boats will be skippered by an experienced Club Member with the opportunity for people that have already gone through the basic sail training, or those that want to give racing a try, to crew on a boat in a racing format. Also welcome to join in are newer skippers with their own boats that may like the opportunity to race earlier in the day before the commonly stronger afternoon winds. No racing will be held in these sessions in winds exceeding 15 knots.
Sail Training fees also cover the introduction to racing program.

Wallaroo Sailing Club News September 2026

WELCOME TO SPRING EVERYONE!
Your WSC Committee has had it’s final meeting prior to kicking off the 2026/27 Season. Open Day has been programmed along with the full sailing schedule, all of which are attached to this newsletter/email.
LAKE EYRE REGATTA September 27th to October 3rd. WSC will be represented with a good number of our sailing members taking boats to Lake Eyre Yacht Club. We wish them well for this fun event and look forward to many distorted stories of their pursuits on their return for the start of our sailing season. All should be back for Open Day on October 11th to kick off another season.
OPEN DAY for season 2026/27 is set for Sunday October 11th. Attached is the schedule and invitation for the day where we would love to see as many Members as possible at the club for this great social and sailing occasion.
SAIL TRAINING is scheduled to start on the morning of Sunday 1st November. We welcome back Col Bridgman this season to run this part of our program. We have added nine Sundays to run a short race series starting at 10.30am to hopefully progress those that have participated in sail training before, or for those in sail training to experience the racing side of sailing. The structure of this will be for those that want to progress to racing experience to crew in a boat with an experienced club member in a short race in the waters in front of the club on a course shorter than is used for the afternoon racing. These races will only be sailed in winds of no greater than 15 knots. Attached is the full sail training schedule for 2026/27. Enquires can be made by return email or phoning 0493 966 458.
OFF THE BEACH RACING is scheduled to commence with the Open Day race on October 11th. Full race program is attached here. Please note that start time for racing has been moved from 1.45pm to 1.30pm.
CRUISING DIVISION has its first event for the season coming up on the October long weekend. For enquires on anything on this program please contact Tim Gross [email protected] Full program is also attached.
RADIO CONTROL SAILING continues to have good participation during Winter. Radio Control racing is held every Sunday and Tuesday at the Wallaroo Marina. For information see Facebook Wallaroo Sailing Club Radio Control Division.
MEMBERSHIP renewals are coming close to their due date, and the sailing season is nearing, so please look at getting these up to date with the renewal form attached to this email. Good news is fees remain unchanged from last season.
SOCIAL ACTIVITY has been strong over Winter with a good number of club hire functions. Friday night meals are now in full swing EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT and bookings can be made by calling Margaret on 0419 178 988. Margaret is also your contact to book for this year’s Club Christmas party on Saturday December 12th. WSC clubhouse is available for function hire with or without bar and kitchen facilities. Enquires can be made by calling 0493 966 458.

Look forward to seeing everyone back around the club on and off the water very soon starting with Open Day on October 11th.
