Decent numbers of carp feeding in the shallow margins due to a combination of warm, slightly dirty water. I noticed some water movement at the base of a drainage entrance point. Thinking it was just another big carp I was about to keep moving, when I got a brief glimpse of what I thought was a white rimmed tail.

A gentle underarm lob onto the rock next to the inflow and taking up the loose line I then allowed my spinnerbait to slide into the water. A huge swirl broke the surface .... two cranks and I was on 💥.

Hands down the fattest river fish I’ve ever caught. Big river cod are something else!

Not much has changed with my colour code since my first cod on lure with no other but a trusty mudguts!

12 years later I still run by the same code....

Contrast of bright and dark colours!

Its something I fall back on when trying out new colours or just on a slow day. It is my confidence lure and has caught countless cod over the years!

With the river low and clearing and the temp dropping, the fish are coming out to play!

This short few weeks is my favorite time to chase river cod, with high action and visual eats to top it off, you jist cant beat it! 🔥🔥
