Celebrated our client, Max's birthday earlier in the week but is actually today! π₯³π₯³π₯³We are all very proud of her as from Day 1, nearly 10 years ago, she has always stated that she hates exercise but is doing more now than ever through circuit training twice a week and walking anywhere from 2km to nearly 5kms most days! It's so good to see that more women these days are looking after their health and fitness by lifting weights, fitness classes, running and walking in their 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond. Instead of accepting the fact that their later years is just going to be a steady decline of becoming weaker, losing their balance, gaining weight....they are actually doing the opposite by turning their 2nd half of life into their strongest and healthiest one. β€οΈ
Achievable Physiques
Empower yourself, fit body, fit mind.
Had my little 14 month old granddaughter help me set up the Ladies Circuit Class this morning.....but did have to up the weights for the step up to bicep curl exercise. πͺπWell done to our ladies coming out to exercise on this cold morning who have experienced all sorts of weather conditions in the last 10 years or so. β€οΈβοΈβοΈβοΈπ¬π«π€βοΈπ‘
It might be cold and wet outside this morning in Melbourne but a great way to beat the Winter chills is by keeping active and warm indoors at our Ladies Circuit Classes on Mondays and Wednesdays @9:30am. πͺπ Our circuit training is ideal for getting in a quick 30min workout, working all your muscle groups and at the same time enjoying the social aspect of being in a small group which can definitely help with motivation to put your health and fitness first. β€οΈ Well done to our ladies this morning. πͺππ§π§π§π§
So proud of our RoseAnn who has been strength training with us for 10 years! Her consistency and determination to keep herself strong and functional has been amazing and is a great role model for all of us.
And also it's her 79th birthday today! A big Happy Birthday RoseAnn! ππ₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³πππππππππ
Lifting weights is about staying strong and functional for as long as we can.
It's about getting off the floor.
Standing up without needing help.
To be able to carry the shopping bags.
And even lifting up the grandkids or for that matter, keeping up with them! π
Building strength is about not wanting everyday life to be hard but to support it so we can enjoy our lives fully. πͺβ€οΈ
Trying to squeeze in my workout and focus especially on my finisher but can be quite distracting when your dog is doing zoomies. ππΆ
But that's life π It can throw you lots of distractions, challenges and obstacles but you have to be strong and focused if you want to keep moving towards your goals.
Turn the volume up and you will hear what our client was really training to! ...the sound of hail and rain! π
If you are determined and committed to looking after your health, physically and mentally, then you will focus on the task and just get it done. That is where the 'magic' happens.
If you only train when the weather is perfect, the temperature of the room is just right, having your favourite music playing, being with people you only like, having the perfect workout gear on, feeling bright and energised....well you may find that you might not be training much which will affect your progress of your health and fitness.
Consistency is what builds you up....so no matter whether it's cold, hot, raining, feeling tired, stressed, unmotivated....just keep showing up for yourself and your future self will be glad that you did. β€οΈ
We all know life can get very busy at times and we can put our health and fitness on the back burner but this is the last thing we should do.
It's so important that we make it a priority for ourselves.
We may take it for granted now, depending on the stage you are at, but many older people can have a lot of difficulty in just getting off the floor and off the couch, doing up their shoe laces, putting their socks on, playing with the grandchildren on the floor or lifting them up....all these things may seem easy right now but it can catch up on you if you don't keep yourself strong.
One of the best things you can do to help yourself in this area is to build muscle to reduce frailty and falls....it's never too late to start.
Our ladies in our circuit classes range from 60 to late 70s and they are all still very active....lifting weights, boxing, planks, push ups, battleropes, kettlebell work, running, fast walking and our younger clients all know the importance to start now so they can look forward to a functional and active lifestyle as they get older. π
Life really is a journey, not a destination so make it count for....you. β€οΈ
The quote for this week with our clients is.....'Be your own inspiration.' β¨οΈ
To recognise their own resilience and personal growth of how far they have become on their own personal journey and to be proud of it and also the affect it has on others. β€οΈ
Looking after yourself physically and mentally shows that you are saying that you are worth it and you want to really grab 'your life' with both hands to live it with fulfilment, gratitude and purpose.
Simply doing this for yourself can unknowingly inspire others around you. β€οΈ
We asked our clients to name one thing that they are proud of about themselves and they found it very hard to answer as we tend to find it difficult to look at ourselves in a positive way and find it uncomfortable. It's so much easier to take the attention off ourselves and focus on others but by the end of their circuit or personal training sessions, some of the answers were that they were proud of getting out of bed and showing up for the last 8-10 years when they didnt feel like it or having a setback with a serious illness, surgery, losing a loved one, life's ups and downs.....all had one thing in common and that is to push through these challenges by being positive in their mindset, to flip it into....'I can do this and move forward' and showing up for themselves. π©·
So maybe ask yourself that question and see how you go.....What are you proud of about 'you'? π
Have a wonderful weekend everyone. πͺβ€οΈ
