THE GREAT CRUZA DRIFT-ROPE COMPETITION! 🚲

How long do you reckon this seriously tangled piece of drift rope actually is?

Floater and I dug it out of the sand on the way to Barrier Rock several months ago. It was later collected by the Bass Coast Landcare Network during its final retrieval trip for winter.

The rope appears to have travelled along the coastline through longshore drift, gathering more rope and marine debris before eventually washing up on our stretch of beach.

Once the competition closes, we’ll lay it out along the beach, measure every last centimetre and film the big reveal!

🏆 THE PRIZE

The closest guess will win a Cruza E-bike adventure voucher for two, valued at $180.

đź“… COMPETITION DATES

Entries open Monday, 14 September 2026 and close at 11:59 pm on Monday, 28 September 2026.

The winner will be announced on Tuesday, 29 September.

HOW TO ENTER

1. Follow Cruza South Gippsland.
2. Message Cruza HQ on 0404 178 317 with:
• Your full name
• Your email address
• Your best guess in metres and centimetres
3. Feel free to share your favourite Cruza post or reel and tag us to help spread the word!

One free entry per person. If two or more people submit the same closest guess, the earliest valid entry received will win.

The competition will also help launch Cruza’s Coastal Rubbish Retrieval Bike Project. Cruza is preparing two specially equipped E-bikes to help Victorian beach-cleaning groups reach remote sections of coastline and retrieve rubbish deposited after large swells.

The first bikes are intended for 3280 BeachPatrol Warrnambool, with the longer-term goal of supporting more BeachPatrol groups throughout Victoria.

Any sponsorship or financial support raised separately through this campaign will go directly toward preparing these rubbish-retrieval bikes.

Good luck—this rope may be a lot longer than it looks! 👀

Hi everyone,

Join us for our upcoming Kid's Fishing Day!

The event kicks off on September 24th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Please note that registration is required for all children participating in the fishing activities.

• A representative from the South Gippsland Shire Council, who will present the "First 72 Hours" program—a vital guide on staying prepared during storms, fires, or floods when services are delayed.
• Jamie from Inverloch Fishing and Outdoors, who we hope will join us to share some expert fishing tips.

Whether you're here for the fishing or just have an hour to spare, come along and join the conversation. We look forward to seeing you there!
