Trying to eat 100% clean is usually the exact reason people get stuck in that loop of starting over every Monday.
Here is how your body actually handles food. Fat loss is down to energy balance. If you are in a calorie deficit (meaning you take in less energy than your body burns) you lose weight.
Your metabolism doesn’t have a sensor that labels food as “good” or “bad.” It just processes total calories, protein, carbs, and fats. If you’re in a consistent deficit, you will drop fat, even if a slice of pizza or some chocolate made up a chunk of your daily calories.
Don’t get me wrong, whole foods matter. A 500-calorie bowl of oats and protein will keep you full for hours, while a 500-calorie pastry will leave you starving an hour later. Whole foods make the deficit easier to manage.
But you don’t need perfection to see results. Aim for an 80/20 split. Get most of your food from nutritious sources, and leave the rest for real life!

Losing weight and losing body fat are NOT the same thing!!
The number on the scale is just your total body weight. That includes muscle, fat, water, glycogen, food in your stomach… literally a bunch of things
So yes, you can lose weight without necessarily losing a lot of body fat
And you can also lose body fat while the scale barely moves
This is why I don’t want you obsessing over one number
If you’re getting stronger, your clothes are fitting differently, your measurements are changing and you can see changes in your physique, those are all signs that things are happening even if the scale isn’t moving as fast as you’d like
Especially if you’re lifting weights and trying to build or maintain muscle
Your goal shouldn’t just be “make the number smaller”
It’s about changing your body composition
Lose body fat. Keep/build muscle. Get stronger 💪
And give it enough time to actually happen
The scale is a tool, not the final verdict on whether you’re making progress

A massive achievement for this girl right here!
Justice has been absolutely dedicated to her fitness journey and she has blown every expectation out of the park. We do 3 sessions a week together with upper body, lower body and full body.
With justice we focused on sports specific training to make rugby easier as well as functional exercises to help with her meniscus tear. We then moved into training to help aid her do the Kokoda track and she almost completed the full hike!
Over the time we have worked together we have been able to progressively add weights and make exercises more difficult. Between strength training and cardio we have seen amazing results in fat loss but more so her strength and her mindset!
These results are from no mass food restriction, her showing up every single week AND she took time off for time with family and a cruise 🚢
I could not be prouder of her and I am excited to see what we can achieve next after the next holiday 🥹

IF I WAS STARTING MY FITNESS JOURNEY AGAIN ✨
1. I was so focused on needing to eat less to lose weight, it wasn’t until I started eating to fuel my body that I actually found a difference! I got my body out of survival mode and ate enough to fuel my day to day and my training and that’s when I started to see results
2. I thought just showing up to the gym and training whatever was going to work for me, it was not! I started training harder and with more intention. My last reps slower, harder and looked completely different than my first reps. If it’s not challenging, nothing will change
3. I went to the gym 7 days a week at the start. Every single morning. Little did I know that I was making things so much harder for myself and making myself more fatigued and tired. Rest is so important to give your body time to repair and refuel
4. Stop trying to be perfect straight off the bat! You’re learning and growing, you won’t know everything straight away and it will take you a few times to get it right and that is okay. I kicked myself every time I didn’t get something perfect but I just needed to take a breathe and keep trying
5. COMPARING!!! I made the mistake of comparing myself to all of these crazy influencers and pro athletes thinking that I wasn’t good enough. Your journey is your own and you will respond differently to training than someone else. You will grow differently and lose weight differently also. Follow your own path and fall in love with the process instead of comparing and saying you’re not good enough
If you’re struggling with any of these, you’re not alone!

Did you know that progress is made even if that scale weight isn’t moving? 🤯
Progress comes in different forms and it’s important to notice them all! When you’re feeling like you’re not making any progress, take a step back and think of these little things 🙂↕️

Strength looks different for everyone, and Kasey is a perfect example of that! 🤩
When Kasey first started training, our focus was building the strength needed to support her pole dancing goals. Fast forward to now, and she’s getting stronger every week, both in and out of the gym
We’ve been working on movements like:
• Lat Pulldowns
• Face Pulls
• Hanging Knee Raises
These exercises aren’t just gym movements—they directly support the strength, stability, grip, and body control needed for pole
One of my favourite parts of coaching Kasey is getting messages about new tricks she’s landed or skills that are starting to feel easier. There’s nothing better than seeing the work we’re putting into the gym translate into real progress in something she loves 🥹
Progress isn’t always about the number on the scale! Sometimes it’s stronger pulls, better control, more confidence, and finally nailing a move you’ve been working towards for weeks
Super proud of how far you’ve come! I cannot wait to see what else we can achieve 😄
