Tonight, our girls trek out to Sunshine for a rematch of the Memorial Shield Grand Final.

Our bats have been on fire in the pre-season, we look to continue the batting success and start the season atop the ladder. Communication in the field will be key tonight, as we expect three players to make their debuts.

After a close 3-2 game last weekend, expect another competitive 7 inning game.

Memorial Shield 2026 - A Grade Womens Champions 🏆🏆

Incredible weekend from our women's team going through the weekend undefeated claiming the Heather O'Keeffee A Grade Womens Memorial Shield Trophy.

Meeting up with an also undefeated Jets team in the grand final, our pitching and defence managed to hold their strong lineup to just 2 runs while offence was able to rally together to score 3 runs and hold them out to close the game. A really close game that came down to the wire, where we were able to use some short game to get us over the line.

Massive shoutout to Werribee Redsox Softball, Trevor and Ange for hosting such a huge tournament and having it run so successfully. Thank you to our umpire for the weekend, Ashley Shield and the rest of the Softball Victoria Umpires for their calling across the weekend and to our opposition who challenged us throughout every game.

Well done to our rookies, Jenna Haggerty, Lexie Nuroo and Elise Haggerty, who connected with the team straight away. Can't wait to have you with us throughout the season.

We would also like to shoutout our men's team. As a club, we were the only team to have a mens and women's team both in A grade, with the men finishing 3rd. What a great achievement for our growing club.

A big weekend to start the season for the boys. 4 games on Saturday with only 1 primary pitcher proved challenging. We went 2 and 2 on day 1 with some strong games with the bat and 2 pitching wins from ace Zane Davies. Strong winds and a strong pitching performance from the Hawks kept our bats quiet on Sunday as we finished 3rd out of 5 teams.

At the conclusion of Day 1, both teams have completed all of their round games. The women have finished undefeated on the top of the table with 39 runs for and 3 against.

Our men are the only team in their grade to have finished all of their round games, so we are waiting for the rest of the games to be completed before confirming our finals path.

The women’s finals campaign starts with a game at 8:30 where a win will solidify our spot in A grade, followed by a game at 11:10 with the grand final at 3:30

The men’s finals have 2 pathways based on the results of tomorrow’s final round games. If needed, the first round elimination final will be at 11:10, or we may progress straight into the second round of finals at 12:30, with the grand final at 3:30

We wish all our players the best for their games tomorrow and hope we can all pull through to represent the Rays at the grand finals.

With the season beginning and our socials being as active as they are, now is a great time to announce our team lists for the Men's and Women's Memorial Shield.
Both our Rays teams will be in A Grade and this is the first time we are having both a mens and women's team competing at the same tournament. A great moment for our club!

Starting the season off with a BANG!

Cav is our leadoff player of the match for the Women's State League Season. Going 3 from 4 at the plate, and just a triple shy of hitting a cycle, Lili is well and truly our player of the match.

With Round 2 being pushed forward, the Women's Rays fly ahead putting up 18 runs, before the inning was cut short and reverting back to a scoreline of 10-1.

Some really strong performances with the bat tonight from all of our girls, with a combined 15 hits in 26 at bats. Many of our players had a multi-hit game, as well as some aggressive base running which allowed extra bases off outfield hits.

It was great to see the girls back out there getting off to a hot start. Bring on next week: Jets
