The University Hawks (est 1989), play junior and senior amateur AFL in Townsville at Riverway Stadium The Hawks AFC was established in 1989.
We relocated to the University campus in the early 90’s and have remained there since. During this time we have enjoyed much success having won 9 Senior Premierships and 7 Reserve Grade Premierships. Although we have been based at the University for a majority of this time, most of our members have been from the wider community and we have only relied on the University to top up player numbers. A huge weekend of finals footy for the Hawks! 🦅💛🤎
Our Reserve Grade went down to the Bulldogs, 38–77, but their finals campaign isn’t over yet — they’ll get another bite at the cherry next week.
Our Senior Women booked their spot in the GRAND FINAL with a strong 34–10 win over the Tigers! 🔥
And on Sunday, our U14 Girls put together a dominant 72–0 win over the Suns, earning another opportunity next week to fight for a place in the final.
Plenty still to play for and plenty to be proud of.
