Kawungan Sandy Straits Jets

At Kawungan Sandy Straits FC, we go beyond the pitch, fostering a nurturing environment for player development.

We aim to instill a lifelong passion for football, nurturing well-rounded individuals with skills that extend beyond the game. We are a local Football Club based in the picturesque city of Hervey Bay, Queensland. The Kawungan Sandy Straits Football Club was established in 2012 after the merging of former known sporting Clubs the Kawungan Whales (Est 1997) and Sandy Straits (Est 1997). Our club has grown every year and is now known as the largest club on the Fraser Coast. We are well known for our family orientated and inclusiveness culture with several senior players and coaches also having children playing in the club. We value respect and mateship, and we strive hard to give our members the best experience possible on and off the football pitch. The KSS Jets is proud to have the largest number of female players on the Fraser Coast and we are honoured to have numerous amazing and talented indigenous players, coaches and committee members. From Under 5's all the way through to Senior Men's and Ladies, we are the club of choice on the Fraser Coast and we are proud to be the largest football club in the Wide Bay Region.

⚽️ Introducing our 2027 U12/13 QPL Coach

We are pleased to announce Joe DiLegge as our U12/13 QPL Coach for the 2027 season.

Joe brings a strong level of coaching experience to the role, including experience within the FQ Academy environment, and we believe his knowledge, standards and approach to player development make him the right person to lead this group into an important new chapter for the club.

For these players, 2027 will mark their first season of competitive football at QPL level. It is an important step in their footballing development and one that will require the right balance of technical development, tactical understanding, discipline, accountability and, importantly, a strong team environment.

Joe’s experience will be invaluable in helping the players understand the demands of competitive football while continuing to develop them as individuals and as a team. His role will be about more than simply preparing the group for match day. It will be about establishing strong foundations, setting clear expectations and creating an environment where players are challenged to improve, encouraged to learn and held to a high standard.

We have the utmost faith in Joe’s ability to lead this program and to give these players the guidance and development they need as they take this next step in their football journey.

We’re looking forward to seeing the standards Joe sets, the culture he builds and the progress this group makes throughout 2027.

Please join us in welcoming Joe DiLegge to the Jets coaching team for 2027.

The next chapter starts here.

✈️ Introducing our 2027 U14–16 Girls Coaches

We’re thrilled to announce Eleanor Beach and Gena Davis as our U14-16 Girls coaches for the 2027 season.

2027 will mark Eleanor’s fourth season with this squad, continuing a journey that has seen her work closely with the group through some important stages of their youth football journey. Her commitment to the players and passion for seeing them grow as a squad has been a constant throughout her time with the team.

Joining the technical area is Gena Davis, who will take on her first season with the squad. While it will be Gena’s first year officially coaching this group, she is certainly no stranger to many of the players, having coached a number of them during her time leading our U14/15 WBS teams. Her experience, knowledge and existing relationships with the players will be a fantastic addition.

Together, Eleanor and Gena bring a shared passion for female football, player development and creating an environment where players can continue to learn, grow and enjoy their football.

The pair will be looking to build on what was a fantastic 2026 season for the girls. The squad finished the regular season as Minor Premiers and went on to make their first Grand Final appearance, marking an exciting milestone for the group and the continued growth of girls’ football at the Jets.

But 2027 will be about more than just results.

For the majority of this squad, it will be their final season of youth football before they take the next step into senior football. That makes the year ahead an incredibly important one. Eleanor and Gena will be focused on helping the girls make the most of their final year together as a youth squad, while continuing to develop the skills, confidence and understanding they’ll need as they transition into the next stage of their football journey.

There is plenty of excitement around what this group can achieve, and we’re incredibly excited to see this dream team take the reins in 2027.

We can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings.

Bring on 2027.
