DANCE STEP

Our Dance Step Student Teachers demonstrated their understanding of different muscle groups this week.

The program includes units of study on anatomy, allowing students to better understand their own moving bodies as well as understanding why things are trained a certain way.

Often when a skill is achieved, students throw them repeatedly and forget which muscles are required to do them safely.

How we teach students to engage changes for the different age groups. For example to achieve an elongated spine our Tinies: put on your big kind heart, Juniors/Inters: Visualise stacking body parts like building blocks, referencing the bones, Seniors: Connecting alignment to direction of muscle engagement.

We discussed the importance of the foundational work, no matter how far they may progress in new skills!!

Maternity Cover - Dance Teaching position in Tom Price and Paraburdoo (Term 4 2026 and Term 1 2027)

From Dust Creative Arts is seeking expressions of interest for a maternity cover position so that programs can continue for nearly 200 young dancers in the Pilbura.

The candidate must be confident working independently across ballet, contemporary, tap and jazz with hip hop and acro as ideal additions.

The candidate must hold a valid WWCC and be experienced with early year students up to seniors.

Vehicle, accommodation, return flights provided.
