Fun & Safe Babywearing Dance Fitness for Mums
📍 Weekly classes across the Redlands, QLD

Join us for a class soon! Casual classes welcome

21/08/2026

The countdown is on until I take a short break to prepare for the arrival of my 2nd little girl.

With just 4 classes left, now is a great time for a fun boogie with your baby and other mums who just get it.

I've packed our class track list with mood boosting nostalgic hits that verge on the best karaoke set list, but we get to dance to them (singing optional - I often do 😂)

Book a casual class online via my profile link.

Totally unKanga related, but I am loving these The Lullaby Club l Inclusive, Pregnancy & Feeding Friendly pants in their new blue pattern.

What have you tried from them? And would you rate it?

I am in my last term before I go on Maternity leave with my second child and I'm testing out my newborn suitable carriers in my collection ahead of bubs arrival.

In this episode we test out my woven wrap.

This is a carrier style I didn't use with my first and was introduced to it during my Kangatraining Instructor course. I wanted to have one in my carrier collection for mums who didn't want a buckle carrier.

This is a really pretty striped wrap by girasol. The stripes make it really easy to see where it needs tightening and matching it with where to pull the slack to. It has been a little while since I tied my demo doll in this wrap, hence the fiddling (and dolls don't move their arms like a baby does).

💜Pros:
-Very versatile
-Can be used in the early days all the way to the max weight limit (well into toddler/young child for some brands)
-There are soo many ways woven wraps can be tied and finished off (there are a tonne of babywearing educators out there sharing some really creative and simple ties)
- woven wraps don't 'need' to have the three passes of fabric like a stretchy wrap which 'can' make them cooler than some stretchy wraps depending on the fabric.

💜Cons:
It does take some practice to get used to tieing
If bub it fussing, it can make getting it on more challenging - but not impossible

💜Who am I?
I'm a Kangatraining instructor based in Brisbane, QLD. I've been running babywearing group fitness classes (Kangatraining) for over 2 years. As part of our training we learn all about safe babywearing and different carrier types which we use in class to support our participants wear their babies safely during class and out of class.

What do you think?
Would you try a woven wrap?

At Kangatraining we want all mums and bubs to have fun, but be safe during our classes.

That's why we have a few specific requirements when wearing your baby during class.

Bubs must be work facing into our bodies whether they're on your front or back.

Your Kanga instructor can help you get a comfortable and safe fit.

Looking back at photos from 3 years ago after Kaiya was born, I definitely used babywearing as a tool early on. This post is proof that you only know what you know at the time. I look back and cringe at the fits of my early babywearing but I didn't know better.

I remember looking at this random branded stretchy wrap ( which I bought cause I got hammered with ads and liked the colour) how the hell do I use this? I figured I'd watch a quick YouTube video and try it out.

As you can see, this fit is not ideal. There's a lot of slack tires a little low. It's not really spread out across my shoulders. I'm not even sure her little hips were supported properly 🤦‍♀️

Then you look at the old Ergo carrier I had, which was a $20 carrier I found on marketplace that came with no instructions, I don't know how old it was and again I had no idea what I was doing when I put her in, but I looked at the photos online and did my best - with the information I could find.

I'm so grateful to have found Kangatraining and learning how to wear her safely. And then going on to do the training myself, to pass on all this babywearing knowledge to support other mums.

I also love seeing Babywearing Australia working towards making real change in this space to ensure everyone has access to safe babywearing information and avoid some truly scary carriers on the market.
