What I wish more mums knew about showing up!
This is a picture of me and my eldest son when he was only 3 or 4 years old (he is now 15!) but I remember that season of having a toddler in tow and some days felt so much harder than others!
Some days I didn't have the energy to exercise and move how I wanted to - at the gym lifting weights. But I knew that I could get out and move with my son - running around the playground and kicking a ball around! Or bringing him to class with me and training with him by my side!
Movement & exercise doesn’t have to look a certain way.
You don’t need to feel energetic.
You don’t need to be in a good mood.
You don’t need to have it all together.
And you definitely don’t need to arrive ready to give 100%.
Some days, simply getting out the door with baby or toddler in tow, and showing up to class is the win.
Over the years, I’ve seen plenty of mums arrive tired, overwhelmed, anxious or completely touched out. And that’s okay. You are always welcome exactly as you are.
Showing up doesn’t mean pushing through or ignoring what your body needs.
It means meeting yourself where you are that day.
Maybe you train a little lighter. Maybe you take more breaks. Maybe you come for the movement, the fresh air, the conversation and the chance to do something for you.
There is strength in simply showing up when part of you almost didn’t. 🩵
So if you’re waiting to feel motivated, energetic or “ready” before you start - don’t.
Come as you are. We’ll meet you there.

Feeling flat, overwhelmed, exhausted or just not quite like yourself lately?
Motherhood can be a lot. And while some days are naturally harder than others, if you’ve been feeling “off” for a while, it’s worth paying attention to what your mind and body might be telling you.
Burnout, anxiety and postnatal depression don’t always look the way we expect and you don’t need to wait until things feel really hard before reaching out for support.
✨ You matter
✨ How you’re feeling matters
✨ Asking for support is a sign of strength

You won’t always feel like working out. Some days you’ll be tired, busy, or simply not in the mood especially when you’re juggling work, kids and everything in between.
But sometimes those are the days when moving your body can make the biggest difference.
A workout isn’t just about changing your body. It can clear your head, lift your mood and help you feel more like YOU again.
You don’t have to give 100%. Just start. A little movement can change your whole day. 💪

You might be eating “healthy" but are you eating enough to support your body?
For many women over 40, protein can be one of the things that gets overlooked especially when life is busy and meals become whatever is quick and easy.
🍞 Toast for breakfast
🥗 A light salad for lunch
🍝 Pasta for dinner
There’s nothing “wrong” with these foods, but depending on what you add to them, your day could end up being much lower in protein than you realise.
And as we move through our 40s and into perimenopause, getting enough protein becomes increasingly important for supporting muscle, strength, recovery and overall health
In a recent masterclass with Nutritionist Ana Ravier (Balanced Bodies Lifestyle Clinic) through my MumSafe™ membership really reinforced for me how important it is to look at what we can add to our meals, rather than always focusing on eating less.
🥚 Add eggs to breakfast
🥣 Include Greek yoghurt
🫘 Add beans or lentils to salads (this is also a great way to up your fibre intake)
🌱 Try tofu or tempeh
🐟 Include fish, chicken or another protein you enjoy
Small, realistic, consistent changes can make a big difference.
As a general guide, aiming for around 30g of protein at each main meal, can be a helpful starting point for many women, although individual needs will vary.
At IN2Life Personal Training, our focus isn't on eating less or exercising more.
It’s about helping women build sustainable & consistent habits that support strength, energy, confidence and long-term health.
Not restriction
Not perfection
But finding consistency and supporting the body you’re living in.

Do you have:
Low energy,
Constant cravings,
Stalled progress?
You might assume you’re eating too much but what if you’re actually not eating enough to support what you’re asking your body to do?
Under-fuelling can be surprisingly common, especially for busy women juggling work, family, training and the changes that come with midlife.
And the signs aren’t always obvious.
Low energy, increased hunger and cravings, poor recovery, changes in mood and disrupted sleep can all be signs that it’s worth taking a closer look at how you’re fuelling your body.
Because eating less isn’t always the answer.
Sometimes your body needs more consistent, nourishing fuel to support your energy, training, recovery and overall wellbeing.
This post was inspired by recent masterclass with Nutritionist Ana Ravier (Balanced Bodies Lifestyle Clinic) as part of my MumSafe™ membership. It gave me some valuable insights into how we can better support women through different stages of life.

Fatigue is more than just feeling tired.
It can show up in ways we don’t always recognise especially when you’re used to pushing through a busy day and looking after everyone else.
You might notice:
🧠 Brain fog, forgetfulness or difficulty concentrating
😴 Sleeping, but still waking up exhausted
🦵 Heavy limbs or muscles that tire more easily than usual
💭 Feeling flat, anxious, snappy or emotionally drained
😔 Losing motivation because you simply don’t feel like you have the capacity
That last one is important.
Sometimes what looks like a lack of motivation isn’t about willpower at all. Your body may be telling you that it needs more support, recovery or a different approach.
Fatigue can occur for many reasons and may be experienced during postnatal recovery, perimenopause, illness or periods of prolonged physical and emotional stress.
If fatigue is persistent, worsening or affecting your day-to-day life, it’s worth speaking with your GP or an appropriate health professional to explore what may be contributing to it.
At IN2Life Personal Training, we understand that movement doesn’t always need to mean "pushing harder".
We work with mums to find appropriate ways to move based on where their body is right now and when something is outside our scope, we can help connect you with trusted practitioners for additional support.
