MEMBERS UPDATE – MAJOR SINGLES & 2027 PENNANT
Dear Members,
I hope you are all well.
There has been some confusion regarding several activities and competitions taking place over the coming months, so we would like to provide the following clarification.
2026 Major Singles Championship
Bowls NSW has advised that a Champion of Champions Singles event designated for 2026 will be held in December. As a result, The Entrance Bowling Club will be conducting an additional 2026 Major Singles Championship.
The prize money will be the same as that awarded to our recently presented 2025/26 Champions and Runners-Up. The winners of this event will also be eligible to represent the Club at the Bowls NSW Champion of Champions event.
Please note that this is a stand-alone event and does not replace the normal Club Championship program.
The 2027 Championship Calendar will be released shortly and will include both the Major Singles and Major Pairs Championships during the first six months of the new year.
Entries and Playing Dates
Entries for the 2026 Major Singles close at 4:00pm on Thursday, 10 September.
The Men's competition will commence on either Saturday 19 September or Saturday 26 September, depending on the number of entries received.
The Ladies' competition will join the Men's draw at either the Quarter Final or Semi Final stage, depending on entry numbers. If there are eight or fewer entries in the Ladies' event, they will join at the Semi Final stage.
Players may, where necessary, play matches on or before the scheduled date, subject to approval from the Match Committee.

Open Pennant 2027
Nomination forms for Open Pennant 2027 are now available on the Club noticeboard. There are three separate forms available.
1. Player Nomination Form
This form is for members wishing to play in one of our Open Pennant teams.
There is a section where players can indicate whether they expect to be available for all 10 rounds.
Do you have to be available for all 10 games? Absolutely not.
We understand that members have holidays, work commitments and other personal obligations. It is expected that not every player will be available for every round.
However, when determining the number of teams to enter, the Club needs to establish a reliable base of approximately 12 players per team. This information will assist the Committee in determining how many teams we are able to nominate.
2. Reserve Player Nomination Form
This form is for members who would like to participate in Pennant but are unable or unwilling to commit to playing every round.
For example:
• Members who are happy to fill in when required, particularly for home games.
• Members who have holidays, work commitments or other obligations that will make them unavailable for several rounds.
• Members who would like to make themselves available whenever possible without committing to a full Pennant program.
These members are an important part of our Pennant structure and provide valuable depth across all teams.
3. Non-Playing Manager Nomination Form
As part of the recent Pennant review conducted by the Committee, the need for dedicated non-playing team managers was identified.
This form is for members who would like to be involved in Pennant and play an important role within a team without being nominated as a regular player.
Managers will be a vital part of the team's organisation and support throughout the Pennant season.
In exceptional circumstances, such as an injury or an unexpected player absence, a manager may be called upon to act as a substitute for all or part of a match.
Pennant Grades for 2027
At this stage, no decision has been made regarding which grades The Entrance Bowling Club will contest in the 2027 Open Pennant competition.
The Committee will make this decision during discussions and negotiations with Bowls NSW, expected to take place in late November or early December.
Men's and Women's Pennant 2027
It is expected that both Men's and Women's Pennant competitions will again be conducted in 2027.
However, at this stage, no details have been released regarding the competition format, including dates, number of rounds or days of play.
