The count down begins!!🐻

The big week has arrived, and we cannot be more excited!

Our senior and reserve men will be playing off for premiership glory this Saturday at Wally Tew Reserve in Ferntree Gully, with the ressies commencing at 12:05pm, and the seniors from 2:30pm.

For both teams, we will be welcoming them onto the ground through a guard of honour, we kindly ask that you make you way onto the field in preparation for this at 11:50am for the reserves, and 2:10pm for the seniors, wearing as much red and green, and carrying as much red and green decorations as humanly possible (we will have banners and other bits and pieces available to hand out on the day).

Rain hail or shine, the Bear Army will be out in force, your support as the 19th player on field will be invaluable in their quest for glory!

For only the second time in our clubs 80 year history, our senior and reserve men will be playing for premiership glory on the same day!

Yesterday it was the seniors turn, qualifying for their first grand final since 2015, with a hard fought win over Upper Gully in pristine conditions at Wally Tew Reserve in Ferntree Gully.

Whilst all eyes are cast forward to the big day on Saturday, we are calling on our Bear Army to not only join us on the day, but all week, as we celebrate and embrace this incredible opportunity created for our community.

On Tuesday and Thursday the boys will be rounding out their preparations at training, the lights will be fired up on both ovals, we encourage all to come down on both nights to watch the sessions, we’d love to see our junior players on the spare oval having a kick of the footy, and soaking up the energy created across this wonderful week.

Thursday night we will be hosting a buffet dinner, more details to come, but we welcome all to join us on the night, even if it’s not for dinner, as the all important team selection is finalised and presented to our members in the clubrooms, which will be decorated in all things red and green.

On Saturday morning, join us for breakfast, as we prepare for big day. Merchandise will be available, as we look to flood Wally Tew with our famous colours.

For both the senior and reserve games, we will be forming a guard of honour to welcome the players onto the field, we’d love to see banners, flags, posters, face paint, you name it, we want it, times tbc during the week!

One of the most amazing memories from our dual premiership success from 2012, was how much our community rallied around the event. The wing at Mitcham was 10 deep of supporters from The Basin, and the noise and support was unlike anything we’ve ever witnessed or experienced. We are unrivalled when it comes to our members and community, and we are calling on you, The Bear Army, to rally behind us once more in 2026. Our 19th player, it all comes down to this, and we want you by our side the whole way!

Congratulations to Kobe Ferguson who plays game number 50 tomorrow!

Kobe has been a star in the front half for the seniors over the last two seasons, booting 23 goals each year to compliment his manic tackling pressure, we’re looking forward to much of the same on Saturday as we attempt to book our spot in the big dance!

Good luck Kobe, what an occasion to celebrate a milestone!
