Doll play - the cuteness of this caught me off guard recently! This stage of play has to be my favourite - when the little human I’ve grown starts to look after their own little baby. Have you tried to model doll play? Maybe spoon feeding the doll, offering dolls & teddies cups to drink from, or maybe even whole pieces of play (or real!!) food. There are so many learning opportunities here!

New place, new food? Sometimes a new environment can invoke a sense of excitement and intrigue - new sights, new smells, new opportunities and no mealtime pressures. 🍽️
Sometimes the child who refuses anything new at dinner time will surprise you and take a bite from your food, or ask for something they’ve never seen or experienced before. 🥒
But equally - sometimes new environments cause the complete opposite. Refusal of anything new, overwhelm at new sights, sounds and smells, and a reliance on familiarity. 🤷🏻♀️
It’s about knowing the child, trying new things when they’re feeling regulated, meeting them where they’re at, and always focusing on connection over consumption. 💚

How are you talking to your kids about vegetables? Kids are clever, they understand so much and can benefit greatly from understanding why we are so focused on this category of foods. Try it out - find out what nutrients are in foods, tell them the why behind what you’re offering and see what happens. It might spark an interest! And of all else fails, talk about p**p 💩 Share your stories below ⬇️
