Nobody warns you that the sensory kid grows into a sensory adult. They just get quieter about it.

The child who melted down over a seam becomes the adult who cuts every tag out, keeps headphones within reach, and knows exactly which jumper is bearable and which one can ruin a day.

Adult sensory regulation is just less visible:

🌿 Noise-cancelling headphones that make a loud commute survivable
🌿 A weighted blanket at the end of a bright, loud, too-much day
🌿 Movement breaks when the body starts to buzz
🌿 The textures that settle you, and quiet permission to avoid the ones that don’t

Tag someone who’ll read this and feel seen. 💛

Our co-founder and OT Bec alongside our superstar OT Michelle, recently attended the Western Sydney Careers Expo, connecting with the next generation of future allied health professionals.

We loved having the opportunity to chat with students about what a career in Occupational Therapy can actually look like.

There’s something pretty special about meeting young people who are just starting to figure out “What do I want to do with my life?” and showing them that there are careers where connection, advocacy and making a genuine difference are at the heart of the work.

Thanks to the Western Sydney Careers Expo for having us!

Who knows… maybe we met some future Wildflowers along the way. 👀🌻

“There was none of this in my day.”
“They just need firmer boundaries.”
“You’re making excuses for them.”

If the grandparents don’t understand your child’s diagnosis, it can be one of the loneliest parts of the whole journey.

You’re advocating for your child and simultaneously managing your own parents’ doubt at the same time, and it wears you down.

Here’s the thing to hold onto: you don’t have to win the entire argument in one go. Small and steady works far better than a lecture.

Try:
🌿 “Their brain is wired differently, and this is what actually helps them.”
🌿 “I know it looks different to how we were raised. This is what we’re doing, and I’d love you on the team.”

You’re not asking them to become an expert overnight.

You’re asking them to trust you, and to be gentle with a grandchild who is already trying their absolute best.

Save this, or send it to someone who needs the words. 💛

You know the feeling. You held it together through the hard meeting, the traffic, and the tea that went cold twice, and then someone asked what’s for dinner and you nearly came apart at the seams 🫣.

That’s not a short fuse, or you being dramatic. It’s your window of tolerance shrinking under a day that asked too much of it .

The useful part is what it means for the hard days. When you’re already stretched thin, the answer isn’t to white-knuckle harder. It’s the small things that widen the window back out like food, a pause, a walk, or five minutes where nothing is required of you.

You’re not failing to cope. You’re running on a window that got narrow, and those fluctuations are normal.

Save this for the days it all feels a bit too close to the edge. 🌿

When young people are constantly taught to scrutinise and optimise their appearance, that can start to affect how they view their body. That their body is another problem that needs solving.

This Body Image and Eating Disorders Awareness Week, we’re asking:

Is this really wellness, or is it another way of teaching young people they’re not enough?

Have you ever heard of the Bystander Effect?

This phenomenon which is consistently observed in human behaviour is when someone needs help, people are less likely to offer help if there are other people around, assuming someone else will help. For example, you are walking down the street when you hear someone yelling for help - but you don’t intervene because there are 10 other people who can hear and you think they will help. This is called the bystander effect and it applies to mental health, too.

When it comes to asking “are you ok?” - you might think “Oh, they have a familly, they would know if they aren’t coping??” - you think someone else will ask the question, or you might feel like you become responsible for the other person.

The problem is, when everyone assumes that someone else will intervene, no one actually does.

When you notice someone at risk we encourage you not to wait for someone else to do something. Reach out, check in, let them know you are there. If you’re not the right person to support them, can you find someone who can?

Let’s keep the conversation going, because a conversation can change a life.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day. 💛

A day to remember something that should be true every day:

You don’t have to struggle in silence.
You don’t have to wait until things get worse to ask for help.
And you don’t have to carry everything alone.

Sometimes, a conversation can be the beginning of someone realising that they are not alone. That they are seen. That they matter.

So today, check in.
Reach out.
Listen.

And if you’re the one struggling, please know this:

Your life matters.
Your story isn’t over.
And you matter more than you know. 💛
