Another great session at KMPT tonight.

Self-defence isn’t about fancy techniques—it’s about understanding principles, making good decisions under pressure, and developing skills that work when it matters most.

Tonight we focused on practical application, attention to detail, and building confidence through repetition. Well done to everyone who got involved.

Are you in the 1% ?

The gap between "trained" and "untrained" is striking. The ABS Personal Safety Survey found that 8 million Australians (41%) had experienced physical or sexual violence since the age of 15, yet only a fraction of those would have had any self-defence preparation.

If you define "knows how to defend against an attack" as having received meaningful, practical training, the number is almost certainly under 5% of the population — and likely closer to 1–3% when you exclude casual or lapsed practitioners. Most people have no structured training whatsoever.

Three new students stepped onto the mats last night and absolutely smashed it.

No experience. No ego. Just a willingness to learn and push themselves outside their comfort zone.

Every expert starts as a beginner. Well done to all three on taking that first step.

Beyond the Fight: The Making of a KMPT Instructor

In the world of self-defense, there is a common misconception that being a skilled fighter is the same as being a skilled instructor. At Krav Maga Precision Training (KMPT), we know that these are two vastly different disciplines. While a fighter masters the art of combat, an instructor must master the art of leadership, communication, and human development.

The reality is simple: at KMPT, instructors are not created overnight.

At KMPT, instructors are not created overnight.

Assistant instructors still have a long road ahead before becoming fully unassisted. We are building leaders, not just fighters — people who can teach, control situations, and carry themselves with professionalism and integrity under pressure.

That standard takes time to earn.

Great night at KMPT last night with three new people starting their Krav Maga journey with us.

We had a teenage girl, a lady, and a gentleman all step onto the mats for their very first lesson, and all three did extremely well. It takes courage to walk into something new, especially a realistic self-defence environment, and they all pushed through and gave it their all.

Well done to everyone involved. Great energy all around.
