Myth buster Monday! A common question in clinic is regarding cortisone injections. Don't be fooled - these injections decrease inflammation and potentially pain, but they aren't fixing your problem. A lot of the time, they don't even work at all! Be sure to address the source of the problem, and not just put a bandaid over the pain.

The incline dumbbell press is one of the best exercises for building your upper chest while improving overall pressing strength. Because each arm works independently, it's also a great way to identify and correct left-to-right strength imbalances.

Having a PT spot you through heavier sets isn't just about squeezing out extra reps,it's about support, safety, and making every rep count. A good spot helps you maintain proper technique, build confidence under heavier loads, and push closer to failure without compromising form.

✅ Benefits:

• Targets the upper chest for a fuller look.
• Helps correct left-to-right strength imbalances.
• Improves shoulder stability and control.
• Builds strength while reducing compensation from your stronger side.

💡 Technique Tips:

• Keep your shoulder blades pinned back and down.

💪 Exercise Spotlight: Dead Hangs

Sometimes the simplest exercises can have the biggest impact.

Dead hangs involve hanging from a bar with your feet off the ground, allowing your body weight to gently load the shoulders and upper limbs.

✅ Can help improve:
• Grip strength
• Shoulder stability and control
• Overhead mobility
• Scapular muscle endurance
• Tolerance to bodyweight loading

While dead hangs can be a valuable exercise, they’re not suitable for everyone—especially if you have certain shoulder, elbow, or wrist conditions. As with any exercise, proper technique and appropriate progression are key.

What's one of your absolute staples in training chest?

This is one we recommend! Client Kiran Veer working through 12 reps of great technique on these Seated cable pec flies.

-Using a cable machine gives you the freedom to decide the range of motion (how far the bench is from the machine)

-Setting the cables lower or higher also allows you to put the emphasis on different parts of the chest

-Using a bench creates a more stable environment so you can more effectively isolate the chest (as opposed to standing, good too, just less stable)
