WEBSITE SETUP ASSISTANCE

To say we are excited is a huge understatement 🤩😀🎾

We have successfully negotiated an extended lease with the land owners Transport for NSW.

Thanks to Craig from local company SportsZone we have completed the re-surfacing of courts 3, 4 and 5, including new nets and net posts; and the rejuvenation of courts 1 and 2.

New fences between the courts will be happening soon, along with repairs to some of the boundary fences.

The boundary trees will be trimmed.
The court sheds and toilet block are being repaired and rejuvenated.

We are excited to be able to continue to provide a valuable service to the local community, including local schools, Community College, competitions, adult social tennis, coaching programs and permanent and casual court hire.

With so many upgrades, we are appealing to the Matchpoint Tennis community.

We are looking to create a new Website for Matchpoint Tennis.
If there are any of our members who may have experience with website platform setup and would be able to help us create a self-maintained new Website or have any recommendations for a local company who could assist, it would be greatly appreciated.

WTA and ATP Rankings update.

After the third Grand Slam tournament of the year, we have seen a bit of movement in the Top 10 rankings.

On the WTA tour, after her Wimbledon victory, Linda Noskova 🇨🇿 has moved into the Top 10 for the first time into #6.
Jes Pegula 🇺🇸, Coco Gauff 🇺🇸 and Karolina Muchova 🇨🇿 have all climbed positions.
While Iga Swiatek 🇵🇱, Amanda Animisova 🇺🇸 and Elina Svitolina 🇺🇦 have all slipped down.

On the ATP tour, Jannik Sinner 🇮🇹 remains the World #1 after defending his Wimbledon title.
Alex Zverev 🇩🇪 moves to a career high World #2.
Aussie Alex de Minaur 🇦🇺 also moves to a career high of World #5.
Novak Djokovic 🇷🇸, Daniil Medvedev 🇷🇺 and Flavio Cobolli 🇮🇹 have all moved up.
While Americans Ben Shelton 🇺🇸 and Taylor Fritz 🇺🇸 have slid down.

Boys Singles.

17 y/o Aussie Cruz Hewitt 🇦🇺, with guidance from Tennis Australia and father Lleyton Hewitt, made the decision not to attempt to qualify for the Men’s Singles draw, and instead enter the Boys Singles.

The decision has certainly paid off, Hewitt making his way into the Boy’s final defeating three seeded players on the way and without dropping a set.

Hewitt defeated Spain’s 🇪🇸 Gonzalez-Galino 6-1 6-2 in the opening round.

He then overcame #14 seed France’s 🇫🇷 Domenc in Round 2 7-6 6-3.

In Round 3 Hewitt beat the #2 seeded German 🇩🇪 Mackenzie 6-3 6-4.

In the Quarterfinal Hewitt defeated the #9 seed Bulgarian 🇧🇬 Kisimov 6-1 6-2.

In the Semifinal Hewitt beat Dutch 🇳🇱 youngster Thijs Boogaard 6-4 6-4 to make his way to the Boy’s Final.

The 17-year-old become Australia’s first Boy’s Singles finalist at Wimbledon since Alex de Minaur 10 years ago 🇦🇺💪

In the Final Cruz met American Qualifier Jordan Lee 🇺🇸.

Hewitt started strong, taking the opening set, before Lee fought back to win 4-6 6-4 7-5, his first Grand Slam boys’ singles title and becomes the first qualifier to win the boys’ singles title at a Grand Slam since Noah Rubin won the same title at Wimbledon in 2014.

“I have a lot of memories from growing up around my dad when he was playing here, practicing on the courts with him, picking up balls. So, it's very special that I've played well here, and it would mean a lot.” Said Hewitt.

Men’s Final

The defending champion, World #1, Italian Jannik Sinner 🇮🇹 taking on Roland Garros Champion, World #2, German Alex Zverev 🇩🇪.

The opening set saw both players come out playing their best tennis.

This was Zverev at his strongest, his most aggressive and his most confident – this was a Zverev that Sinner had not faced before. Certainly not in a Grand Slam final. And still the champion held firm.

With no breaks of serve, the opening set went to a tiebreaker, Zverev holding on to take it 7-6.

The second set was a replay of the first. No breaks of serve, another tiebreaker required. This time it was Sinner who took it 7-6 to level the match.

The third set brought an unexpected surprise: a break point to Zverev against the Sinner serve. It had taken two hours and 42 minutes to arrive, but here was an opportunity for Zverev. Then Sinner played a perfectly executed drop shot, his opponent tried to change direction, slipped and landed in on the grass clutching his right knee. Sinner was over like a shot to check if all was well and helped his opponent up.

Whatever the state of his knee, the jolt had rattled Zverev. From holding that break point, he went to serve and offered up a double fault and two missed forehands. Sinner had the first break of the match and a two-set to one lead.

The fourth set saw Sinner break serve and looking confident.
The Italian repelled the three-hour, 46-minute all-out attack from Alexander Zverev to win 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4, his 100th Grand Slam match win and his fifth major title 🏆.

“It has been an amazing final once again,” a delighted Sinner said. “It always takes two players, and me and Sasha, we try to give everything we have. I'm very happy of course about the win, but I'm mostly very happy about the level we both played.”

Women’s Final
Czech 🇨🇿 mate

The 2026 Women’s Final was an all Czech encounter.

#9 seed 21 y/o Czech Linda Noskova 🇨🇿 taking on her doubles partner #10 seed 29 y/o Czech Karolina Muchova 🇨🇿.

Noskova started very strong, taking an early break of serve in the opening set, followed by another late break to claim the first set 6-2.

The second set started the same way with Noskova breaking serve early and establishing a 5-2 lead and setting up match points.
In an incredible comeback, showing her experience, Muchova battled back, incredibly saving five match points, wining five games in a row to take the second set 7-5 and send the match into a decider.

Once again Noskova broke serve early in the deciding set and managed to hold on to win the set and the match 6-2 5-7 6-3, claiming her maiden Grand Slam Singles title 🏆.

Congratulations to both for an amazing Wimbledon Final.
