Before you build the house, make sure your foundation is strong 💪🏾
In sprinting, drills are the foundation.
If the basics aren’t right, speed won’t last.
Every A-skip, every switch, every posture hold — it all matters.
This is where coordination is built.
This is where rhythm is learned.
This is where real speed starts.
Don’t rush to sprint fast…
Earn the right to be fast.
Build it right. Build it strong. 🧱⚡️

At Athletic Aces, we always focus on mechanics first 🏃♂️
He’s only 8 years old, and right now it’s not about chasing speed it’s about building the right foundation.
Why does this matter?
Because the earlier kids learn correct running mechanics, the more natural and efficient their movement becomes over time. We’re teaching the body how to move properly before asking it to move fast.
Think of it like this:
You build the engine first… then you tune it.
As kids grow especially when they hit puberty their strength, power, and explosiveness naturally increase. For boys in particular, that hormonal development helps unlock speed and force.
But here’s the key 👇
If the mechanics are already in place, that new power gets used the right way.
That’s when everything comes together
⚡ Speed
⚡ Power
⚡ Efficiency
And that’s how long-term athletes are built.
Trust the process. Build it young.

A Message to Parents & Coaches
On the weekend, I watched a young athlete lose a game. He was already emotional… and then got yelled at from the sideline.
At 10–12 years old, kids are still developing. Some grow earlier, some later but early performance doesn’t mean long-term success.
What matters right now is: Development. Confidence. Love for the game.
In tough moments, kids don’t need pressure they need support.
“I’m proud of you. You did your best.”
You can always talk about improvement later, when they’re calm. Guide them, help them that’s your role.
But in the moment… support comes first.
And remember:
Not every child will play at the highest level…
but they will always be your son or daughter.
The relationship you build with them now matters more than any result.
If you want them to open up to you, trust you, and feel safe it starts with how you respond when they’re struggling.
A lot of us couldn’t open up to our parents… let’s not pass that on.
Build the person first, then the athlete.
Trust the process. Be patient.
