My thoughts and feelings from last nights game:
1. Crowd was fantastic, the positive vibes and the atmosphere was outstanding, considering how poor our season was last year the fact that so many turned up shows you people have renewed hope for our club
2. A missed opportunity to go deeper and get more pre season games under the belt. I felt like victory really turned up for this one and whilst we weren’t bad, we probably didn’t deserve to win
3. Lual minutes so small? For a young player whose just come off a record breaking NPL season you’d think he would have been given more time to impact the game but Ufuk left him until very late to make an impact, not sure why?
4. Milanovic class- that free kick shows you why he has been brought back to the club, to make moments like that. It’ll be interesting come the start of the season if he starts who then misses out? Gillion or Di Pizio?
5. I still think we need more signings. Just a few more impactful players to add that spark and edge to ensure we finish in the finals, we currently have 3 visa spots up for grabs and I’d love to see a #10, attacking player either winger or ST and probably a CM signed just to make our squad complete

With our round of 32 clash coming up in 12 days time against Tigers FC, I thought I’d have a crack at a potential lineup. This is going off the back of who has been around the squad the longest and the formation (4-2-3-1) Talay last used at SFC. 🔴⚫️

This is probably the lineup I would go with for round 2 based on the following:
Borello> Sapsford: unfortunately Sapsford didn’t get much of a chance against SFC and would probably benefit from less minutes from the bench
Kraev at 10: grew into the game and started to connect well with his teammates, needs to start and continue building into the team
Pelekanos> Scicluna: Scicluna did a good enough job at CM but you could tell he wasn’t used to the position. Of course if Priestman is available he should start but I think Pelekanos showed enough in his short stint to be given a go
Holiday> Clisby: I think he showed a lot when he came on and offered some great crosses
Thoughts?

This is my predicted lineup for tomorrow nights massive season opener against the smurfs! Of course a lot of the selections are guesses and it could look completely different but let’s hope we start strong nonetheless! I think he will opt for Pelekanos to start in midfield with Priestman not being available he really is our only other midfield option. I also think he will bench Mata to start, keep in mind he hasn’t played a lot of football in the last 18 months and despite training for the last few months he will still be underdone with his match fitness. I also think Staj prefers to give Sapsford a chance up front and he’s proven himself against the Sky blue with 2 goals from 3 matches. My final prediction is a 2-2 draw, I’m anticipating a lot of attack once the game opens up and this should bring the likes of Milanovic and Lolly into the spotlight. Predictions and thoughts in the comments everyone! 🔴⚫️

Predicted lineup for tonight’s Australia Cup clash against Lions FC.
Expect a few inclusions from our last cup clash and hopefully some minutes for Kraev off the bench!

Squad update as of 11th of August, currently we’ve only signed 2 players and both are foreigners in Kraev and Jeong leaving us with 2 available visa spots. Keep in mind too that we have only seen the boys in action once so far and I am judging off that game alone that the lineup looked as though the wingers did roam and become inverted 10s at times so I think once Kraev comes in it will suit the style more. What are your thoughts so far?
