Another photo taken from my 94 year old mother’s family album taken around 72 years ago
I believe this was my uncles car with my mother and cousin in the photo.
Research tells me this is a 1950’s Ford Prefect E493A Saloon .
This was a practical British-built family car that became a familiar sight on Australian roads in the early 1950s. It was valued for its reliability, simple engineering and economical running.
The E493A introduced integrated headlights in the front guards and a more modern grille than the earlier E93A model, while retaining its distinctive upright appearance.
Some interesting facts:
* Engine: 1,172 cc (1.2-litre) side-valve four-cylinder.
* Power: Around 30 horsepower, driving the rear wheels through a 3-speed manual gearbox.
* Body style: Four-door saloon with seating for five.
* Performance: Top speed of approximately 95–100 km/h, making it well suited to the roads of its era

Found this gem in my mother’s photo album from more than 80 years ago. My uncle is second from the left, proudly wearing the latest beach fashion of the day! Styles have certainly changed, but these old photos are priceless reminders of a bygone era.

Over countless tides and seasons, the relentless power of the oceans has sculpted these beautiful patterns into the coastline.
What we see as coastal erosion is also a reminder that nature is constantly creating, reshaping, and leaving behind its own unique masterpiece.
