At Blue Box, we take our training seriously.

But we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

We care about good coaching, smart training, strong foundations and helping people build bodies they can rely on for now and the long run.

But we also want the space to be somewhere you actually enjoy showing up to.

Somewhere you can work hard, have a laugh, build confidence and train around good people.

That’s what makes consistency easier and the journey more enjoyable.

July is one of our quieter months, with plenty of the crew overseas escaping the Sydney winter.

The gym still has a great buzz across the week, with some busy and waitlisted sessions, but there are also a few quieter windows that are ideal for newer members getting started.

Last session for Alex this morning before she makes the move back to Canberra.

We’ll miss having her around the place, but we’re looking forward to her rolling back in for a few hungover Saturday sessions whenever she’s back in Sydney.

It’s been an absolute pleasure having you as part of the crew, Alex. Wishing you all the best with the move.

Week 2 starts tomorrow.

Last week was about getting familiar with the new programme, finding the right loads and laying the foundations.

This week we continue refining technique while building on that with a little more volume with a few more reps or a small increase in load where it makes sense.

If you missed last week or are starting your trial this week, treat this as your Week 1. Use it to get familiar with the programme, find the right loads and lay the foundations.

For the main lifts, we’re still looking for around 3-4 reps in reserve. Use last week’s numbers in your app to take some of the guesswork out of this week.

But as always, listen to your body!

If you’re underfuelled, low on sleep, stressed, in a calorie deficit, coming back from illness, carrying a ni**le, or at a stage of your cycle where training feels heavier than usual, pull back where needed.

We’re not chasing fatigue for one session. We’re building strength, progress and better movement for life.

A look back at the last 12-week block at Blue Box.

Over the last few months we’ve nailed the basics, built strength, got fitter, moved better and set some solid benchmarks to carry into the next 12-week block and beyond.

We’ve seen progress show up in a lot of different ways - better technique, less pain, better positions, tough conditioning sessions, lots of PBs, consistency and confidence.

All ages. All levels. Everyone building at their own pace, for now and the long run.

But it wasn’t just about what happened inside the gym.

We got outside for a group hike, shared plenty of coffees after Saturday conditioning, welcomed lots of new faces through trials and the Beginner Strength Course, added new equipment to help busy classes flow smoother, launched new merch and had a little Blue Box helper putting kettlebells away.

PT clients have made great progress, group sessions have been full of energy, plenty of classes have been busy, full and waitlisted, and Coach Alex has joined the team as the community keeps growing.

A big thank you to everyone who showed up, trained hard, supported each other and helped make the last block what it was.

This week we wrap up a big 12-week block

Test Week is about setting benchmarks, measuring progress and giving yourself something clear to build from heading into the next block.

It is not about ego lifting.
It is not about testing for the sake of it.
And you do not have to test if it is not the right option for you.

But we do want you booked in, fuelled up and showing up.

Even if you have been inconsistent.
Even if the last few weeks have been a bit messy.
Even if you are new, on trial or not ready to test a true max.
There will be options for everyone.

This week:
Monday: Deadlift 1RM / 3RM / 5RM
Tuesday: Bench Press 1RM / 3RM / 5RM
Wednesday: 60-second machine efforts
Thursday: Back Squat 1RM or Box Squat 3RM
Friday: Chin-up testing
Saturday: Open Gym for 1-2 lifts if you missed a day or want a better testing window

Saturday Community Conditioning and Coffee is still on at 7:30am, but you can't do both Saturday sessions as we want you fresh for testing after.

We are not a powerlifting gym.
We are not CrossFit.
We are not bodybuilding.

We are building people who are:
-Strong enough for the demands of life.
-Powerful enough to react when it matters.
-Mobile enough to move freely.
-Fit enough to recover well.
-Capable enough to keep showing up for decades.

That is why this week matters.
Testing gives us benchmarks. Benchmarks help us measure progress. Progress helps us keep training with purpose.

Our next 12-week block starts Monday 22nd June and the programming is already shaping up to be our best yet.

This is the final week of building strength before we test next week and wrap up another 12-week training block at Blue Box.

Over the past few months our crew have been putting in the work. Building strength, improving movement, staying consistent and showing up week after week.

Next week we get to test, celebrate the progress and finish the block strong.

Our next 12-week block starts June 22.

With lots of new faces joining us recently, we’re excited to welcome more people into the gym for the next block.
