⛵ Ever wondered what it’s really like to sail at a World Championship? At Dobroyd we have members who have given it a go!
One of the great things about being part of our sailing club is the opportunity to learn from sailors who have been there and done it.
Tonight, Tasar sailors around Australia will have the chance to hear directly from Heather Macfarlane and Chris Payne, the top-placed Australians at the recent Tasar Worlds in Okinawa, as they share their experiences, lessons and insights from racing at the highest level.
They’ll be talking about everything from boat preparation and tuning, starting and boat speed, to strategy, race preparation and even the practicalities of travelling overseas for a major regatta.
🌊 This is the kind of knowledge-sharing and learning opportunity that being part of a sailing community can open up.
You don’t have to be an elite sailor to benefit. Whether you’re working on getting around your local course a little faster, preparing for your first regatta, or dreaming of competing further afield, there is always something to learn from other sailors.
At Dobroyd we love seeing our members learn, improve, share knowledge and enjoy the journey together.

If you're out enjoying the Bay Run today, why not take a well-earned break and stop in at Dobroyd Aquatic Club? Located in Rodd Park on the point, our volunteer-run club has one of the best waterfront views around. Today is the final competition day of our Winter Sailing Season, so you'll be able to watch the boats out on the water while relaxing on our top deck.
Our canteen is open today, with drinks and tasty snacks available (cash only). Whether you're after a coffee, a cold drink or just somewhere peaceful to sit and soak up the view, we'd love to welcome you.
Thinking about giving sailing a go? We'd also love to hear from you! Our Spring/Summer Sailing Season starts mid September, and we run Learn to Sail programs for both adults and juniors. Whether you've never stepped on a boat or you're looking to get back into the sport, there's a place for everyone at our club.
Come and say hello, enjoy the view, and discover what makes our club such a special part of the community. We hope to see you today! ⛵💙

Jenna Gibson - 47.36 knots over 500m (video timing) has beaten the previous world record of 47.06 set by Heidi Ulrich! 🚀🔥💪
The new record still needs to be ratified, but it’s the video time that matters. The live speed from the GPS was 47.41 knots.
Tomorrow is due to be windier so let’s see how much faster she can go in Luderitz!
