Some lessons stay with us forever.
Years ago, my professor Erik Wanderley taught a half guard passing system built on connection, pressure, and strategy. The goal was simple: pass, knee-on-belly, mount… and when the opponent desperately recovered guard, they had already fallen back into the same trap. More control. More points. Repeat.
He always said this strategy helped him win many matches, and it became a big part of my own game as well.
This weekend, one of our kids athletes used that exact same sequence in competition. Watching her execute it so naturally reminded me that Jiu-Jitsu is about more than techniques, it’s about passing knowledge from one generation to the next.
What my professor taught me, I’m now teaching the next generation. And that’s one of the most rewarding parts of being a coach.

Today we held our first Monthly Kids Competition Training!

More than just hard rounds, this session focused on building a strong competition mindset, understanding the rules, developing strategy, making smart decisions under pressure, and growing confidence on the mats.
We believe the mindset developed through Jiu-Jitsu doesn’t just prepare kids for competition, it prepares them to overcome life’s challenges with resilience, discipline, and confidence.
This is just the beginning.

Two years. One incredible community.
When we opened Trinity BJJ two years ago, we had a vision of building more than just a gym. We wanted to create a place where people could grow, challenge themselves, and feel like they truly belonged.
Today, seeing our athletes ranked among the best in Australia is something we’re incredibly proud of, but these rankings are only the result of what happens every day on the mats.
To every student who shows up consistently, every parent who trusts us with their children, every training partner who helps someone improve, and every contributor behind the scenes who gives their time, energy, and passion to make Trinity what it is… thank you.
