6 MISTAKES I MADE IN MY 20s ABOUT HEALTH AND FITNESS… look out - baby Sim photos and videos incoming 🤣🤘🏽
BUT, making these changes has put me in the best mindset and shape of my life after 2 kids.. here are my biggest mistakes:
1. Believing every workout needed to be high intensity
Your body needs a balance of strength, cardio, mobility and moderate-intensity movement. More isn’t always better.
2. Labelling the entire day “bad” if I went off routine
Then spiralling as a result. One choice doesn’t undo your progress. Consistency is about continuing - not perfection.
3. Underestimating the importance of sleep
You can’t out-train poor recovery. Sleep affects your performance, hormones, appetite, energy and results.
4. Thinking “in moderation” meant every day
It doesn’t. Moderation means occasionally - not finding a new reason to make every day the exception.
5. Underestimating the effects of alcohol and refined sugar
It’s not only about calories - which I don’t count. Both can affect inflammation, sleep, recovery, energy and how you feel.
6. Thinking results came from extremes
The hardest workout, strictest routine or fastest transformation isn’t always the answer. Sustainable results come from balance, intelligent programming and consistency.

More isn’t always MORE. 👀
I love to train hard, but the magic is in the balance:
High intensity to challenge
Strength to build
Pilates to control + connect
Lower intensity to recover
The consistency is the key.
Your body doesn’t need to be smashed every day to change.
Train with purpose. Recover with purpose. Get better results.
That’s Athletic Pilates.

CAN YOU SKIP CARDIO?? Basically, no…
If your goal is longevity, you can’t simply neglect your cardiovascular system.
BUT… more isn’t always better. Overtraining with cardio can work against recovery, strength, muscle retention and overall wellbeing.
The sweet spot? Balance.
Pilates + Strength + cardio + recovery = a body that’s not just fit, but built for the long game.
