SUBC🀝 HRR

SUBC was proudly represented across all levels at this year's Henley Royal Regatta, from athletes experiencing the event for the first time in novice crews to rowers competing in finals for some of the world's most prestigious clubs. πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί World Cup III Wrap-Up πŸ‡¨πŸ‡

A huge congratulations to our SUBC athletes who proudly represented Australia at World Rowing Cup III in Lucerne last weekend.

πŸ₯ˆ Jaime Ford claimed a silver medal in the Australia Senior Women's Eight crew after a thrilling race that saw Australia finish just 0.67 seconds behind Great Britain. Racing in the Australian "A" Women's Eight were Taylor Caudle and Sophie Houston, who placed fifth against a world-class field.

In the Men's Quadruple Sculls, Marcus Della Marta finished sixth, capping off a promising World Cup campaign.

Jackson Kench and the "Australia 1" Men's Four claimed victory in the B Final, while Emily Sheppard also finished her regatta on a high with a B Final win in the Women's Quadruple Sculls.

In the Men's Single Sculls, Hamish Danks progressed through to the Quarter-Finals before winning the D Final to round out a valuable international campaign.

Congratulations to all of our athletes on proudly representing SUBC and Australia on the world stage. We can't wait to see what's next! πŸ’™πŸ’›

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³ SUBC in Shenzhen πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³

A group of SUBC athletes recently travelled to Shenzhen, China to compete at the 5th Shenzhen X9 Alliance of Universities and Institutions World Rowing League in the Student Mixed 8+ event.

The crew of Emily Walker, Audrey Stitger, Trephon Stambolie, Luke Purdie, Henry Slatter, Sebastian Atterton, Alice Ready, Scarlett Woodbury and Lilee Lunney delivered an outstanding performance, winning their division and recording the fastest time of any crew at the regatta. πŸ₯‡

Beyond the racing, the team immersed themselves in Chinese culture through dumpling making, calligraphy and fan painting, while also visiting the Harbin Institute of Technology's robotics and AI laboratory. The athletes even contributed ideas to a workshop exploring how human-robot interaction could support economic growth in rural communities.

Of course, no Australian cultural exchange would be complete without a Nutbush performance at the gala banquet! πŸ’ƒπŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ SUBC On the European stage πŸ‡³πŸ‡±

Our SUBC Women's Quad of Alex O'Brien, Alyssa Fikkers, Alice MacReady and Addison Roles kicked off their European campaign with a medal-winning performance at the Holland Beker before taking on the Princess of Wales Challenge Trophy at Henley Royal Regatta.

While Henley didn't deliver the result they were chasing, the opportunity to race against world-class crews on one of rowing's biggest stages is an invaluable experience.

We're incredibly proud to see these girls representing SUBC overseas and flying the blue and gold on the international stage. πŸ’™πŸ’›
