“ I don’t dance. But I did last Friday” We dance because it’s fun, I mean it’s good for your body and mind but it’s good for the soul.
We don’t dance because we used to and we trying to bring back YTT (if you know, you know).. we turn the lights down (ques the disco lights) and dance like no one is watching… because no one is. We learn the moves. We move our bodies.
And it’s FUN!

The last Friday of every month. With a different theme.

This month. Dirty Dancing (probs without the lift. Everyone is welcome.

Being boring is okay! Who thought they’d never agree to that in a million years 🙋‍♀️
What if our bodies need different things when we get older. Spontaneous walks and kitchen dancing still count! We are not talking about boring workouts. Working out can be hard enough sometimes right!!
But less I’ll move when I’ve got time, it’s warmer, not raining or when I feel fitter. Being boring with consistency, even when I don’t feel like it is what you’re after.

Why? We need a hot planned mix..

Low-impact endurance for your heart and stamina.
Bodyweight and resistance training for strength and bone support.
Controlled weights for muscle, joints and everyday independence.
Lengthen and strengthen movement for mobility, core control and posture.

Have you ever worn yourself like a pair of earings from your shoulders?

Quick check: are your shoulders up near your ears right now? Most of us have been holding tension since Sunday night… That feeling of the week about to start, what did Friday you leave for Monday you to deal with eh. And are you calling it ‘just how I am’ now too.

It isn’t just a nervous system that hasn’t had a moment to put anything down in months. You don’t need to push harder, maybe you need somewhere to soften. Stretch. Restore. Align.

Undo your day.

Release your ears from up near your shoulders, stand taller, feel looser, and a little more like yourself.

Right now: drop your shoulders, unclench your jaw, breathe out slowly. Take a big shoulder roll. Up back and down. Now the other way.

Is your little sister spicy? Ours is. Barre, Pilates unassuming spicy younger sister. Surely barre is delicate little swans and a lot of standing around at a rail. Fair? Then you come do it. Warning... It’s addictive.

“Our Barre” that we teach, is low impact strength in disguise, small, controlled movements that light up muscles you forgot you had, set to a rhythm that makes the work feel good instead of grim.

Not just “can I lift something once?”
But “can my body support me well, again and again, through real life?”

What do your bones like? LOAD.

Why is lifting one of the kindest things you can do for your bones (no leotard or personal best required).

Bone is living tissue. Give it something to push against. Resistance, weight-bearing, load-based movement and it responds by holding onto its strength.
Gentle and consistent beats heroic then injured every single time.

This matters more as we age, and especially for women around and after menopause. The good news nobody leads with, it’s never too late to start, and you start exactly where you are.

The hardest rep is sometimes getting back in to it.

The truth. No one is keeping a ‘she’s not been in ages score’ in that room. No one clocks how long you have been away for.

But they do know your name and are happy to see your face!

The only weight you need to carry are the ones in your hands.

Doom scrolling is resting right now because we are in bed. Right!?

Yeah like resting with your shoulders up to your ears.
😂😂 NO. Let’s be honest the couch or bed is calling more in winter.
Your brain and jaw know you’re on your device right now!

You’re flat by 3pm. Wired and awake at 10pm. We hate that.
What about that rest you promised your self tonight.

Well… don’t beat your self up. Resting is a skill, your brain and body need ques to down shift. Not more effort. Less.
You can stretch more though.

Follow along .. don’t get up. Choose an area you want to stretch out.
Slow movement in to a long hold, wherever you can reach, hold it there but don’t hold your breath.. You keep breathing and let everything go. Whatever is gripping on, let it go. Let your muscles soften, enjoy that little nerve stretch if you’re feeling and sit in the stillness of the body.

Swap sides. And stop swiping.
